Andrew Innes

Andrew Colin Innes is a Scottish-born, London-based musician. He is best known for being the rhythm guitarist in Scottish rock band Primal Scream.

Biography

Early years

While in high school in 1978, Innes was the guitarist for a Glasgow punk band called The Drains. He met Alan McGee and Bobby Gillespie when they had joined the band. After the band's demise, Innes along with McGee relocated to London where they formed Laughing Apple, a band of which recorded three singles in 1981 and 1982, two of which were released on Autonomy, and the third was put out on their own Essential record label.

Revolving Paint Dream

As Alan McGee went on to form Creation Records and the band, Biff Bang Pow!, Innes formed Revolving Paint Dream with his then-girlfriend Christine Wanless in 1983. Revolving Paint Dream released two singles and two albums between 1984 and 1989 on Creation. Innes and McGee both contributed to the recordings of each other's bands.

Primal Scream

While a member of Revolving Paint Dream, Innes joined his former bandmate, Bobby Gillespie, in Primal Scream as second guitarist in 1987. He first appeared on their Sonic Flower Groove LP, and with each subsequent recording, he has contributed songwriting and production work as well as guitar work and various instrumentation.

Whiteboys

The Whiteboys (Irish: Buachaillí Bána) were a secret Irish agrarian organisation in 18th-century Ireland which used violent tactics to defend tenant farmer land rights for subsistence farming. Their name derives from the white smocks the members wore in their nightly raids. As they levelled the fences at night, they were usually referred to at the time as "Levellers" by the authorities, and by themselves as "Queen Sive Oultagh's children", "fairies", or as followers of "Johanna Meskill" or "Sheila Meskill", all symbolic figures supposed to lead the movement. They sought to address rack-rents, tithe collection, excessive priests' dues, evictions and other oppressive acts. As a result they targeted landlords and tithe collectors. Over time, Whiteboyism became a general term for rural violence connected to secret societies. Because of this generalisation, the historical record for the Whiteboys as a specific organisation is unclear. There were three major outbreaks of Whiteboyism: 1761–64; 1770–76; and 1784–86.

Mission control center

A mission control center (MCC, sometimes called a flight control center or operations center) is a facility that manages space flights, usually from the point of launch until landing or the end of the mission. It is part of the ground segment of spacecraft operations. A staff of flight controllers and other support personnel monitor all aspects of the mission using telemetry, and send commands to the vehicle using ground stations. Personnel supporting the mission from an MCC can include representatives of the attitude control system, power, propulsion, thermal, attitude dynamics, orbital operations and other subsystem disciplines. The training for these missions usually falls under the responsibility of the flight controllers, typically including extensive rehearsals in the MCC.

NASA's Mission Control Center

Prior to liftoff, missions are controlled from the Launch Control Center (LCC) located at NASA's Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Florida. Responsibility for the booster and spacecraft remains with the LCC until the booster has cleared the launch tower, when responsibility is handed over to the NASA's Mission Control Center (MCC-H), at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, in Houston. The MCC also manages the U.S. portions of the International Space Station (ISS).
