Abs began work on the album following Five's split in late 2001. He soon signed a record deal with Sony BMG, who had previously contracted Five on a three-album deal. The album's first single, "What You Got", was released in August 2002 to moderate success, peaking at #3 on the UK Singles Chart. The album's second single, "Shame", was scheduled for release in November 2002, but was subsequently only released in Australia after the record company decided to market "Stop Sign" as the second british single. Arriving in May 2003, the song peaked at #10 on the UK Singles Chart. A third single, "Miss Perfect", was released on 25 August 2003, a week prior to the album's release, peaking at #5 on the UK Singles Chart. A fourth single, "7 Ways", was planned for release in November 2003, with a music video being released and several copies made available in stores from 10 November. However, the single was recalled on 11 November, and just three weeks later, Abs was dropped from his record label.

"What You Got" is the debut single from Colby O'Donis' debut album, titled Colby O. The song features Akon, who also produced the track with Giorgio Tuinfort. A Spanish version of the song was leaked on the Internet titled "¿Cuánto Quieres?", meaning "How Much You Want?", however, Akon's verse is still in English. A rap remix was also leaked via Internet featuring Fatman Scoop and Larceny Entertainment's Klepto. It is O'Donis' only charted solo single to date.
A music video was produced to promote the single. An independent video was also produced by Larceny Entertainment to promote the rap remix of this single featuring Klepto. It was released on the internet soon after the release of the original video.
"What You Got" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on the week of March 15, 2008 at number 86. It peaked at number 14 on the week of May 31, 2008 and stayed in the top 50 for twenty-five weeks. It debuted at number 84 in Canada on the week of May 31, 2008 and peaked at number 29 on the week of August 2, 2008. It stayed on the chart for seventeen weeks. It peaked at number 59 in Sweden for two nonconsecutive weeks: July 31 and August 14.
"What You Got" is the second single by Grinspoon from their fifth studio album Alibis & Other Lies. The song was co-written by Phil Jamieson and Matthew Strong (Custard), who is the bass player in Jamieson’s side project, Lost Gospel. The single was only released in a digital format on iTunes.
Australian music website, The Dwarf, describes "What You Got" as being musically closer to "Hard Act to Follow" stating "It's short, sharp and 100% killer. Just how it should be."
Michael Olivotto of FasterLouder believes that the song "instantly wreaks of The Lost Gospel" and that whilst the song is good in its own right, it "stick(s) out from the rest of the album and would have been better left as B-side(s)s or for some other project."
SameSame's Nate C felt that ""What You Got" also sound(s) like the ‘debauched rock and roll’ of vintage Grinners and is sure to appeal to the band’s devoted and faithful.."
The video was filmed in the school gymnasium of Viewbank College. It features the band playing in a gymnasium while the screen flashes to people in still life.
Konvict
I peeped you on the phone
Just showin' off your stones
And notice that that pinky ring
Is right enough, baby
I know you're not alone
But I could just be wrong
The way them fellas houndin'
And sizin' you up, baby
And I like the way you take advantage of
Every man you love
I see, I seem to know your game, girl
But I don't mind if you come and play with us
Just don't talk too much
I see, I see it to so you don't have to say a word
Yeah, those guys wanna come treat you right
?Cause you're sweeter than apple pie
Everythin? that you want you got
Girl, you know that you need to stop
Most beautiful thing in sight
Always takin' on the spotlight
Always in the club lookin hot
Girl, you know that you need to stop
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Girl, you know that you need to stop
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Girl, you know that you need to stop
Girl, I can tell you want somethin? to love
That's why you hold on to everythin? that pass you by
Can't resist girl and I can't lie
Now tell if you are here for me
Or everybody watchin' you shake from left to right
The way you move got me hypnotized
The way you take advantage of
Every man you love
I see, I seem to know your game, girl
But I don't mind if you come and play with us
Just don't talk too much
I see, I see it to so you don't have to say a word
Yeah, those guys wanna come treat you right
?Cause you're sweeter than apple pie
Everythin? that you want you got
Girl, you know that you need to stop
Most beautiful thing in sight
Always takin' on the spotlight
Always in the club lookin? hot
Girl, you know that you need to stop
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Girl, you know that you need to stop
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Girl, you know that you need to stop
Can?t take my eyes away from you, girl
When you get on the floor and do what you do
And everybody wanna come back to that bod
And kind of remind myself I'm like you
?Cause you?re the type that drive a man crazy
And snatch him away from his lady
No matter how hard the man hold back
He'll end up callin' you, baby
And they never really know what to do
Once you expose that thang you do
You had him crawlin' on hands and knees
And you find a way to get him out that cheese
And why ya thinkin' that you the only dude
She off in the mall livin' off of you
Lettin' everybody know she got you
But now you feel like a fool
See all those guys wanna come treat you right
?Cause you're sweeter than apple pie
Everything that you want you got
Girl, you know that you need to stop
Most beautiful thing in sight
Always takin' on the spotlight
Always in the club lookin? hot
Girl, you know that you need to stop
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Girl, you know that you need to stop
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
Always talkin' ?bout what you got
