Do You... (Miguel song)

"Do You..." is a song by American R&B recording artist Miguel. It was released on September 18, 2012, as the second single from his 2012 album Kaleidoscope Dream. It was written by producer Jerry Duplessis, co-producer Arden Altino, guitarist Paul Pesco, and Miguel, who recorded the song at Platinum Sound Recording Studios in New York City. "Do You..." is a love song built around gentle guitar strumming and a playful rhythm section. Its lyrics pose flirtatious, rhetorical questions and feature both metaphorical and literal references to narcotics.

As a single, "Do You..." charted for eight weeks on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, peaking at number 32. It was well received by music critics, who praised Miguel's playful delivery and cited it as a highlight on Kaleidoscope Dream. A music video for the song was filmed in Las Vegas and showed Miguel and his girlfriend Nazanin Mandi on an intimate date. He performed "Do You..." on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and incorporated elements of Bob Marley's "Stir It Up" into the song in his other concert performances.

Do You (Ne-Yo song)

"Do You" is a 2007 single by American singer-songwriter Ne-Yo. It is about Ne-Yo questioning his ex-girlfriend if she ever thinks about him anymore. It is the second single from his second album, Because of You. The single was officially released to radio the week of June 12, 2007. In an interview with BET, Ne-Yo said that "Do You" is the second part to his song "So Sick" from his debut album, In My Own Words.

"Do You" was released on July 30 in UK as a download only single, despite receiving more video play than follow-up single "Can We Chill" (which received a physical release), resulting in a lower chart position of number 100 there, his lowest charting single.

Ne-Yo premiered "Do You" on BET's Access Granted on May 23, 2007.

Remixes

Two duet remixes of the song have been released, both versions featuring the female singer singing the second verse with different lyrics: one with fellow American R&B singer Mary J. Blige and the other with Japanese American pop singer Hikaru Utada. Utada's version was released digitally in Japan on November 21, 2007 as her 7th English single (her 27th single overall). The version with Utada was included on the Ne-Yo: The Collection Japanese compilation.

"Take Me" is a song written by George Jones and Leon Payne. Jones originally released the song on the Musicor label in 1966 and scored a No. 8 hit. However, the song is best remembered for being the first single release by Jones and his third wife Tammy Wynette in 1971 on Epic Records. That version was also a top ten hit, peaking at No. 9.

Recording and composition

Jones wrote "Take Me" with Leon Payne, who is perhaps best known for his hits "I Love You Because", "You've Still Got a Place in My Heart", and for the two songs of his Hank Williams recorded: "Lost Highway" and "They'll Never Take Her Love from Me". Jones would release an LP of Payne songs himself in 1971. The original version of "Take Me", a love song espousing optimism and unwavering devotion, actually sounded very much like a pop song for the time, featuring a prominent, lilting acoustic guitar and one of the most unusually stunning vocal performances Jones ever recorded. During the song, Jones makes more than a half dozen syllables out of the word "loss," in what would become a much imitated (and parodied) singing style. In his autobiography I Lived to Tell It All, Jones recalled, "When I was at Musicor, I might record an entire album in three hours, a practice that violated the musician's union's rules. I'd go through one take...Yet I recorded some of my biggest songs in that casual fashion, including 'Take Me'..."

Take Me was produced by STV Productions (then known as "SMG TV Productions") and Coastal. It was filmed between October and December 2000 and first broadcast in the UK on 5 August 2001. Alex Pillai was the programmes' director.

Plot

Jack and Kay Chambers are thrilled when the residents of Hadleigh Corner welcome them to their new home with open arms. But then the neighbours invite them to share their beds too. When Jack and Kay Chambers leave their city apartment for an exclusive housing estate, they hope to save their ailing marriage. Hadleigh Corner is the rural idyll of their dreams and the newly built house is the perfect symbol of their fresh start.

At first, all is rosy. The villagers are warm and welcoming and the party invitations are flowing. Even their children seem more settled. But as Jack and Kay try to rebuild their relationship, they discover their new neighbours are anything but normal. What starts as a cosy dinner party suddenly turns into a night of adult party games with absolutely no limits. What's more, the perfectly polished and manicured estate hides a terrible deathly secret. As the truth about Hadleigh Corner is revealed, Jack and Kay are torn apart and caught up in a nightmare, which will change their lives forever.

"What Do You Take Me For?" is a song by English recording artist Pixie Lott from her second studio album, Young Foolish Happy (2011). The song features American rapper Pusha T and was released on 4 November 2011 as the album's second single. The track received its first play on Capital FM on 26 September 2011.

Critical reception

Robert Copsey of Digital Spy gave the song four out of five stars, stating: "Fortunately, the rest of the track is less spooktacular and more in-yer-face girl power. 'Don't know what you think I'm after/ What do you take me for?' she calls over a squelchy and thoroughly grindable bassline with just enough disgust in her tone to warn off any fellas who think she's a cheap date. We hate to break it to you Pix, but wearing a snakeskin leotard and popping your crotch on the dancefloor in your accompanying music video will do little to help your cause...you big tease!"

Commercial performance

"What Do You Take Me For?" debuted at number ten on the UK Singles Chart with first-week sales of 34,335 copies, becoming Lott's first non-number-one single to chart inside the top ten. The following week, it fell to number twenty with 16,553 copies sold.
