Cass Elliot
Cass Elliot (born Ellen Naomi Cohen; September 19, 1941 – July 29, 1974), also known as Mama Cass, was an American singer and member of The Mamas & the Papas. After the group broke up, she released five solo albums. In 1998, Elliot, John Phillips, Denny Doherty, and Michelle Phillips were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for their work as The Mamas & the Papas.
Early life
Elliot was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Philip Cohen (d: 1962) and the former Bess Levine (1915 - 1994). Both her mother and father were the children of Jewish immigrants from the Russian Empire. Her father was the owner of a small business, and her mother was a trained nurse. She had a brother Joseph and a younger sister Leah, who also became a singer as a member of the Coyote Sisters. The Cohens later moved to Alexandria, Virginia. Elliot adopted the name "Cass" in high school, possibly borrowing it from actress Peggy Cass, as Denny Doherty tells it. In any case, it was "Cass", not "Cassandra." She assumed the surname Elliot some time later, in memory of a friend who had died. Elliot attended George Washington High School, along with Jim Morrison of The Doors.
Cass Elliot (album)
Cass Elliot is the fourth studio album released by Cass Elliot and the first album recorded for RCA Records. The album was recorded in late 1971 at RCA’s Music Center of the World in Hollywood at 6363 Sunset and originally released in February 1972. It was produced by Lewis Merenstein and conductor Benny Golson conducted and arranged the album.
With RCA granting her artistic freedom, Elliot pursued a more pared down, sophisticated sound for her first album with the label. Most of the songs were performed live in the studio. Elliot chose mostly standards. Elliot saw this album as her opportunity to finally distinguish herself as Cass Elliot and not "Mama Cass."
Songs
"Baby, I’m Yours" was originally released by Barbara Lewis in 1965 and written by Van McCoy. This was the first single released from the album in February 1972 with "Cherries Jubilee" as the B-side.
"Jesus Was a Crossmaker" was originally written, performed and released by Judee Sill just four months prior to the release of this album.
Welcome to the World
Welcome to the World is the second and final Psycho Motel album, released in 1997. It features a different vocalist from the band's first album, 1996's State of Mind. In place of Hans Olav Solli is Andy Makin, whose "dark lyrics and distinctive vocal delivery" differentiate the album from its predecessor. It also features Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy and Dave Murray of Iron Maiden as guest guitarists.
In 2006, Welcome to the World was re-released with two bonus tracks. These tracks contain Solli from the first album on vocals, and were probably recorded just before he left the band in 1997.

Welcome to the World (song)
"Welcome to the World" is a song by American recording artist Kevin Rudolf, released as the second single from his debut album In the City. The single version features vocals from American rapper Kid Cudi, whereas the album version features a verse from rapper Rick Ross. The chorus takes the melody from the 1994 Oasis single Supersonic.
The song was featured in advertisements for WrestleMania XXVI.
Extended version
There is an extended version of the song that features verses from both Kid Cudi and Rick Ross.
Chart performance
The single has currently peaked at #34 on the Pop 100 and #58 on the Billboard Hot 100. In Canada it has so far reached #56 on the Canadian Hot 100. It most recently debuted on Ryan Seacrest's Weekly Top 40 at #40.
Music video
The music video was released to MTV on May 1, 2009. It uses the no rap edit version of the song. The video shows Rudolf singing in the streets with his band. Lil Wayne and Birdman make a brief appearance in the video.

No Mercy (T.I. album)
No Mercy is the seventh studio album by American hip hop recording artist T.I.. It was released on December 7, 2010, by Grand Hustle Records and Atlantic Records. Recording sessions for the album took place during 2009 to 2010. Production was handled by several high-profile record producers, including Kanye West, Polow da Don, The-Dream, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, The Neptunes, TrackSlayerz, Jake One, T-Minus, Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, Rico Love, Alex da Kid, DJ Toomp, Jim Jonsin, Danja and Dr. Luke, among others. The album also features guest appearances from several prominent artists such as Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Scarface, Chris Brown, Eminem, The-Dream, Trey Songz, Pharrell, Drake and Christina Aguilera.
The album debuted at number 4 on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 159,000 copies in its first week in the United States. It attained international charting and produced the lead singles "Got Your Back" and "Get Back Up". Due to violating his parole stemming from a drug arrest, T.I. was forced to alter things, including the album's intended bellicose tone and its title, from "King Uncaged" to its current namesake "No Mercy". Additionally, four purported singles failed to make the final cut. Upon its release, No Mercy received mixed reviews from most music critics. A vinyl edition of the album was released on February 22, 2011. The album was later certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
