Web Therapy

Web Therapy is an improvised online series starring Lisa Kudrow as Fiona Wallice, a therapist who has conceived of a new form of therapy, the titular "web therapy". The series debuted on LStudio.com, on September 22, 2008.

Synopsis

Fiona Wallice is a therapist who has conceived of a new "modality" of therapy: the titular "web therapy". In her estimation, the traditional "50 minute hour" version of therapy gives people too much leeway to talk about irrelevant things. By dramatically shortening session time, she hopes to get results more quickly. Her sessions take place via webcam over the internet using iChat. They are taped in the hope of attracting investors into promoting her new technique as a worldwide therapy option.

A dark comedy, much of the humor revolves around Fiona's obvious self-interest and how it overshadows her legitimate ability to suss out people's issues quickly and effectively. (For instance, in "Sibling Ribaldry," she manages to completely clarify a couple's romantic emotional issues in thirty seconds but does so only to bring them around so she can then film them discussing more trivial sexual issues that are more shocking.)

Web Therapy (season 1)

The first season of the American Improvisational comedy television series Web Therapy premiered on July 19, 2011, and concluded on September 20, 2011 on Showtime. The series stars Lisa Kudrow as Fiona Wallice, a therapist who has conceived of a new form of therapy: the titular "web therapy". This season contains the webisodes from seasons one and two of the web series.

Plot

The season starts with Fiona setting up her new therapy business on the internet. Some of her first few clients include Richard Pratt, an old co-worker of hers who has a crush on her, Gina Spinks, the ditsy receptionist at Fiona's former workplace, and Jerome Sokoloff, who is, in her own opinion, boring.

When her web therapy success starts to blossom, she gets high-profile clients in an Internet psychic, a woman doing promotional advertising for products. Also signing on is her former boss from Lachman Brothers, Robert Lachman, who is also her potential investor, and Ted Mitchell, a therapist who recommends some of his clients to her. A minor setback occurs when a couple records their sessions with her, giving false information, and publishes them without her consent. When they put a link to Web Therapy onto the site, all is resolved. Another hindering in Fiona's business is her mother, Putsy Hodge, who dislikes Web Therapy and is quick to let her know. She reveals she took in a son who she put up for adoption long before marrying Fiona's father. Fiona also sees that Putsy is starting to become unstable and worries for her, and tries to declare her insane in order to give her the best care. Putsy is not happy and decides she wants nothing to do with her daughter for a while.

Web Therapy (season 4)

The fourth and final season of the American Improvisational comedy television series Web Therapy premiered on October 22, 2014, and concluded on January 28, 2015, on Showtime. The series stars Lisa Kudrow as Fiona Wallice, a therapist who has conceived of a new form of therapy: the titular "web therapy". This season contains the webisodes from seasons five and six of the web series.

Plot

Following the events of season three, Web Therapy has been shut down by Putsy. Gareth and Fiona are still talking and when Gareth and Putsy's marriage goes sour, he gets Web Therapy back up and running, but can't communicate with her any more. Fiona contacts Jerome, who is swimming in cash from baby Angus' 30 million dollar inheritance. While expenses for the New York penthouse are piling up, Fiona tries to get Jerome to pay the bills but learns that he can only make baby-related purchases with the thirty million, so Fiona suggests that Jerome and Angus spend a night in the penthouse so he can cover the costs. Jerome winds up spending one night and won't pay the bills.
