We Are Tonight is the fifth studio album by American country music singer Billy Currington. It was released on September 17, 2013 via Mercury Nashville. The album includes the singles "Hey Girl" and "We Are Tonight".
Currington told Country Weekly that he wanted the album to be "completely happy". Unlike his previous four albums, Currington did not write any of the songs on We Are Tonight.
Among the tracks are a cover of Jack Johnson's "Banana Pancakes", from his album In Between Dreams, and a duet with Willie Nelson on "Hard to Be a Hippie". According to Currington, the song ended up as a duet with Nelson because Currington had told co-writer Scotty Emerick, a mutual friend of the two, that he wanted to record the song; when Emerick said that Nelson wanted to record it, Currington then suggested that they do it as a duet.
"We Are Tonight" is a song written by Marc Beeson, Sam Hunt and Josh Osborne and recorded by American country music artist Billy Currington. It was released in November 2013 as the second single from his fifth studio album, We Are Tonight.
The song received a favorable review from Taste of Country, which said that Currington's "emphatic, soulful style allows the title track from his new album to become a refreshing, anthemic party song that will still sound good sober." It also stated that "sharp, descriptive lyrics add color to each verse before a powerful chorus becomes the song’s signature moment."
The music video was directed by Kristin Barlowe and premiered in September 2013. It was filmed at the DeKalb County Fairgrounds in Alexandria, Tennessee.
"We Are Tonight" debuted at number 53 on the U.S. Billboard Country Airplay chart for the week of December 7, 2013. It also debuted at number 49 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for the week of January 18, 2014. The song has sold 455,000 copies in the U.S. as of August 2014.
Another paper in my front yard
Another wave at the crossing guard
Parking lot spot 29
Ain't nothin' different but the car next to mine
And I let that song on the radio fade before I ever open the door
And it's a Xerox copy, identical twin of the 24 hours before
[Chorus]
Baby in the meantime
In the in-between time
All I do is think about you
Just another hey, hey
Weekends on the way, hey
Just another Monday
And a Tuesday nothin' left to lose day
Wednesday and a Thursday look just like the first day
Friday night to Sunday all roll into one day
Just another day without you, ah baby
It ain't Cheers but they all know my name
A coke can, a beer can, it's all the same
I always leave at 11:03
I know what's good and what's bad for me
I could roll thru this routine in my sleep if only I could sleep at all
And the news and the weather say, it's gonna get better but not if you never call
[Chorus]
Baby in the meantime
In the in-between time
All I do is think about you
Just another hey, hey
Weekends on the way, hey
Just another Monday
And a Tuesday nothin' left to lose day
Wednesday and a Thursday look just like the first day
Friday night to Sunday all roll into one day
Just another day without you, ah baby
And I could roll thru this routine in my sleep if only I could sleep at all
And the news and the weather say, it's gonna get better but not if you never call
[Chorus]
Baby in the meantime
In the in-between time
All I do is think about you
Just another hey, hey
Weekends on the way, hey
Just another Monday
And a Tuesday nothin' left to lose day
Wednesday and a Thursday look just like the first day
Friday night to Sunday all roll into one day
Just another day without you, ah baby
Just another day without you, uh, huh
Oh yeah, baby
Livin' just another day without you baby, mmm, hmm
No, no, no
