WAVY-TV, channel 10, is a television station licensed to Portsmouth, Virginia, United States, serving as the NBC affiliate for the Hampton Roads area of Virginia (comprising the cities of Portsmouth, Norfolk, Newport News, Virginia Beach, Hampton and environs), and the Outer Banks region of North Carolina. WAVY-TV is owned by Media General, and is a sister station to Fox affiliate WVBT (channel 43). The two stations share studios and offices located on Wavy Street in Portsmouth, and WAVY-TV broadcasts from a transmitter located in the Driver neighborhood of Suffolk, Virginia.
In addition to its main signal, WAVY-TV is rebroadcast on seven translators. Both W14DY-D and W18EG-D are located in the Eastern Shore of Virginia and are municipally-owned by Accomack County rather than WAVY Broadcasting, LLC or Media General. Those in the Greater Hampton Roads area are owned and operated by Media General.
WAVY-TV, the Hampton Roads area's third-oldest television station, began operations on September 1, 1957. It was originally owned by Tidewater Teleradio along with WAVY radio (1350 AM, now WGPL). It originally signed-on as an ABC affiliate but traded network affiliations with NBC affiliate WVEC-TV (channel 13) in 1959 due to its radio sister's long affiliation with NBC radio. In 1968, it became the second station owned by what was then known as LIN Broadcasting.
SNK Playmore Corporation (株式会社SNKプレイモア, Kabushikigaisha Esu Enu Kei Pureimoa) is a Japanese video game hardware and software company. They are the current owners of the SNK video game brand as well as the Neo Geo video game platform. The previous SNK Corporation was founded in Suita, Osaka, Japan in July 1978 by Eikichi Kawasaki. Originally called Shin Nihon Kikaku (新日本企画, lit. "New Japan Project"), the name was shortened to SNK Corporation in 1986.
SNK is most notable for creating the Neo Geo family of arcade and home game consoles beginning in 1990. Their most popular and successful console was the handheld Neo Geo Pocket Color. Launched in 1999, the Pocket Color was also the last of the Neo Geo family at that time. The Neo Geo line was halted in 2001 when financial troubles forced SNK Corporation to close. Anticipating the end of the company, Kawasaki founded Playmore Corporation in August 2001. By October, Playmore had acquired all of the intellectual property of the former SNK Corporation. Playmore then became SNK Playmore in 2003 and firmly established themselves as the successors to the SNK brand and legacy. For this reason, the name SNK is frequently used to refer to either company.
SNK is a former name of SNK Playmore, a Japanese video game company (August 2001 - present). This may also refer to:
