James Spaulding (born July 30, 1937) is a jazz alto saxophonist and flautist.

Biography

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, after a period in the US Army he moved to Chicago in 1957. There he joined the Sun Ra Arkestra, making several recordings and remaining through 1959. He subsequently freelanced as a studio musician and occasionally led his own groups before returning to Indianapolis in 1961. On relocating to New York City in 1963, he recorded extensively for Blue Note Records as a sideman. He was also a member of the World Saxophone Quartet for a time.

His brother, John Spaulding, is a sculptor who worked with brass instruments.

Roger Joshua "R.J." Jessup is the son of Cassie Winslow and the late-Hart Jessup. He was born on December 24, 1998.

Born inside of a car delivered by Dinah Marler. R.J. is named after his paternal grandfather Roger Thorpe and his then uncle Joshua Lewis. R.J. has a grandfather named Adam Thorpe, an aunt Blake Marler and an uncle Sebastain Hulce and remains one of the few un-SORAS characters on Guiding Light. He has a maternal half-sister, Tammy Winslow, an adoptive maternal half-brother Will Winslow and a paternal half-brother Peter Reardon.
