Warehouse
A warehouse is a commercial building for storage of goods. Warehouses are used by manufacturers, importers, exporters, wholesalers, transport businesses, customs, etc. They are usually large plain buildings in industrial areas of cities, towns and villages.
They usually have loading docks to load and unload goods from trucks. Sometimes warehouses are designed for the loading and unloading of goods directly from railways, airports, or seaports. They often have cranes and forklifts for moving goods, which are usually placed on ISO standard pallets loaded into pallet racks. Stored goods can include any raw materials, packing materials, spare parts, components, or finished goods associated with agriculture, manufacturing and production. In Indian English a warehouse may be referred to as a godown.
History
Warehouses have been found at Ostia. They were an essential tool for trading nations. Medieval examples art part of Europes cultural heritage. During the industrial revolution their function evolved and became more specialised, and architecturally significant. Always a building of function, they have adapted to mechanisation and changes in the supply chain.
Hospital warehouse
A hospital warehouse is a department in a hospital where medical supplies are stored. Such supplies include intravenous (IV) solutions and tubings, first aid products (band aids, wound dressings, gauze, etc.), protective equipment (gloves, gowns, masks, etc.), personal care products/toiletries (wash basins, bedpans, diapers, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, patient belonging bags, drinking cups, etc.), feeding tubes, foley catheters, respiratory supplies and orthopedic supplies (crutches, arm slings, splints, etc.). Items in the warehouse may be distributed to various departments within the hospital (such as the emergency room, operating room, intensive-care unit, etc.), through a centralized requisition system which determines what supplies are needed and the amount to each department.
Also known as "materials management" in some facilities, the warehouse staff use a dedicated inventory system which determines the amount of items that are distributed and where they are delivered to. This helps the buyers order more supplies when the stock is running low or completely out.
Warehouse (Dave Matthews Band)
The Warehouse is the official fan association for Dave Matthews Band. Founded on December 4, 1998, Warehouse gives fan early access to concert tickets, exclusive CDs and merchandise to its members. The current fee for membership is $35 per year, up from the original price of $30.
Warehouse is run by Musictoday, a Charlottesville, Virginia-based company run by DMB manager Coran Capshaw. The success of the Warehouse led to Musictoday running similar online fan clubs for other major artists. Musictoday was acquired by major concert promoter Live Nation.
Distribution of Tickets
The primary benefit of a Warehouse membership is the opportunity for fans to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public. Fans submit ticket requests during the "request period," which typically lasts two weeks. These submissions are put into a random lottery and confirmations are often posted within a month, but always before the public on-sale date through Ticketmaster, or other outlets. Finally, seat locations are withheld until after the public on-sale and may not be posted until the tickets ship, a month prior to the concert, in an effort to deter scalping by members.
Birth Through Knowledge
Birth Through Knowledge (aka BTK) was a Canadian hip-hop/rock band best known for their 1998 single "Peppyrock," the video for which was nominated for the 1998 MuchMusic Best Video Award. The band consisted of Lo-Ki (vocals), Stone Groove (vocals), DJ Spinz (turntables), Adam Carlo (bass),Sam Cino (drums,percussion) and Matt deMatteo (drums).
After signing onto the Tommyboy/Ignition label, BTK released one album "Birth Thru Knowledge" in 1998.
BTK first came to attention when their song "Corncob Pipe" was included on the sampler disc that Korn released alongside Follow the Leader. They were the first indie band to ever open the main-stage at Edgefest '97. In 1998, the band toured with the Beastie Boys and with Our Lady Peace. They appeared in the 1998 Summersault tour.
The band won the 1997 MuchMusic Best Independent Video Award for "Superchile." They were also nominated for a Juno Award in 1999 in the Best Alternative Album category, losing to Rufus Wainwright.

Bruton's tyrosine kinase
Bruton's tyrosine kinase (abbreviated Btk or BTK) also known as tyrosine-protein kinase BTK is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the BTK gene. BTK is a kinase that plays a crucial role in B-cell development.
Function
BTK plays a crucial role in B cell maturation as well as mast cell activation through the high-affinity IgE receptor.
Btk contains a PH domain that binds phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5)-trisphosphate (PIP3). PIP3 binding induces Btk to phosphorylate phospholipase C, which in turn hydrolyzes PIP2, a phosphatidylinositol, into two second messengers, inositol triphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol (DAG), which then go on to modulate the activity of downstream proteins during B-cell signalling.
Clinical significance
Mutations in the BTK gene are implicated in the primary immunodeficiency disease X-linked agammaglobulinemia (Bruton's agammaglobulinemia). Patients with XLA have normal pre-B cell populations in their bone marrow but these cells fail to mature and enter the circulation. The Btk gene is located on the X chromosome. At least 400 mutations of the BTK gene have been identified.
