Warangal

Warangal  pronunciation ; (also known as Orugallu and Ekasila Nagaram) is a city and the district headquarters of Warangal district in the Indian state of Telangana. It is located 148 kilometres (92 mi) northeast of the state capital of Hyderabad and for administrative purposes comprises the Warangal, Hanmakonda and Kazipet areas. The city is included in Amrut project and smart city by central government. The city is known for its heritage and in late 2014 was included in the Government of India's proposed HRIDAY - Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana, along with eleven other Indian cities. A few months earlier, the national government listed it among the 100 proposed smart cities that will be eligible for additional investment to improve urban infrastructure and industrial opportunities.

Warangal is the second fastest-growing city in Telangana state, after Hyderabad. After taking control of 42 gram panchayats, its population has exceeded 1 million and this growth, plus its historical significance, caused the government to authorise the prefer Greater to the name of Warangal Municipal Corporation in early 2015.

Warangal (Telugu: వరంగల్) (also known as Orugallu ir Ekasila Nagaram) is a city in Warangal district in the Indian state of Telangana. It is located in the Central North region of the state. Warangal is 145 km northeast of the state capital of Hyderabad. Warangal is the administrative seat of Warangal District. It is the fourth largest city in Andhra Pradesh with a population of nearly 13 lakhs. Warangal district has an area of 12,846 km², and a population of 2,818,832 (1991 census). The district is bounded by Karimnagar district to the north, Khammam district to the east and southeast, Nalgonda district to the southwest, and Medak district to the west. Warangal is located northeast of Hyderabad,India. Warangal is known for its granite quarries (notably the black and brown varieties), grain market (for rice and chillies), cotton, and tobacco.

Warangal (Lok Sabha constituency)

Warangal Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 17 Lok Sabha (Lower House of the Parliament) constituencies in Telangana state in southern India. This constituency is reserved for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled castes

Pasunuri Dayakar of Telangana Rashtra Samithi is currently representing the constituency for the first time.

Overview

Since its inception in 1952 the seat was won by many political parties with Congress winning 8 times out of 16 whereas other outfits like Telangana Praja Samithi and the Telugu Desam Party have won it during different general elections.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi emerged victorious on three occasions including the 2015 Bye election where its candidate Pasunuri Dayakar registered the biggest victory margin compared to any leader in the history of the Telangana
