WYXC (1270 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a News/Talk format. Licensed to Cartersville, Georgia, USA, the station is currently owned by Clarion Communications, Inc.; president and co-owner is Chuck Shiflett, a columnist for the Cartersville Daily Tribune News. Founded in 1961, WYXC's broadcast area included the NW corner of metro Atlanta and other areas of northwest Georgia. The station also streams 24/7 at its web site at NewsTalk1270.com.

The format includes Fox News updates at the top of every hour, 24/7, local Weather Channel forecasts updated continually, Fox Sports Radio updates at the top of every hour, news updates from Georgia News Network hourly.
The weekday talk lineup includes a local morning show, The Wakeup Show with David Paul, 6 to 9 AM. Syndicated programs included Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham, Dave Ramsey, Gregg Knapp, Michael Reagan, Rusty Humphries, Dateline Washington, Coast to Coast AM Midnight Trucking Radio Network, and Talk Radio Countdown. The "Friday Mix", with Tommy Young, airs every Friday form 9 to 10am, a few of his guests included former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, U.S. Senators Isakson and Chambliss, Tom Coburn, and George Allen Jr., Georgia Governor Sonny Purdue and many others.
The station also broadcasts live high school football each Friday evening in season followed by the Official Statewide High School Football Scoreboard Show.
Weekend programming includes Car & Driver Radio, Road & Track's Speed Radio, Sound & Vision, Startup Nation, The Money Pit Home Improvement Radio Show (hosted by Tom Kraeutler and Leslie Segrete), Monica Crowley, Ben Ferguson, and other shows.
On December 7, 2009, WYXC experienced a "catastrophic equipment failure" involving the station's automation system; however, after evaluating the costs of repairing or replacing the equipment, the station's owners decided to close down the station, as it could not afford the cost of repairs. In addition, for the previous five years, station owners kept the station running without salary or compensation, using only revenues to keep the station going. Clarion is in talks with other parties, including former owners Empire Radio, to acquire and reopen the station.[1]
As of April 2011, WYXC is back on the air.
