WRCR (1700 AM) is a radio station broadcasting an Adult Contemporary format with a morning News-Talk show. WRCR is licensed to Ramapo, New York and serves Rockland County. The station is owned by Alexander Broadcasting, Inc. and features hourly newscasts from the USA Radio Network. The studios and offices were on the upper level of the Nanuet Mall. After the Mall closed the station moved to Provident Bank Park. WRCR broadcasts an adult contemporary music format on weekdays, with a News/Talk morning show. Brokered programming, sold to local businesses and community organizations, is heard middays and weekends.
WRCR is the only radio station providing news and information specifically for Rockland County. WRKL 910AM in nearby Pomona, New York, switched to an all-Polish format on March 18, 1999.
On July 13, 2015, WRCR moved from 1300 to 1700 kHz in the AM expanded band, increasing its power from 500 watts to 10,000 watts by day and 1000 watts at night. The higher wattage allows the station to be heard over a wider area of the lower Hudson Valley and Northern New Jersey. The station also switched its City of license to Ramapo from Spring Valley, New York, both communities in Rockland County.
WRCR was a carrier current college radio station at Rockford College, Rockford, Illinois. It was conceived by a group of students in the fall of 1962. On December 20, 1962, the establishment of a radio station on campus was approved by Rockford College Board of Trustees. The Executive Board of Rockford College Student Government recognized WRCR as a communications medium on February 5, 1963, and WRCR began regular carrier current broadcasting on March 17, 1963, from room 206 in Nelson Hall.
In the Fall of 1964, WRCR moved to a larger space on the first floor of Burpee Center. Then in the Fall of 1970 the station moved to custom designed studios in the lower level of the new Burpee Center addition. In 1985 the college needed the space in lower Burpee and WRCR was again on the move. The new location was three rooms in the former Lang Infirmary. By 1993 as the college population changed from primarily residential to half-commuter student body, it became more and more difficult to staff the radio station. WRCR ceased broadcasting in the Spring of 1995.
Kya Hai Tum Jaano Na, Jaano Toh Maano Na Yeh Hamaari Batiya
Hamase Hai Saari Duniya
Hamase Hota Hai Din, Dekho Hamaare Bin Hoti Na Yeh Ratiya
Hamase Hai Saari Duniya, Maano Na Maano Rasiya
Girls Rock The World, Now And Forever, Girls Rock The World
Girls Girls Girls, We Have The Power, Girls Rock The World
Yeh Na Socho Bin Tumhaare Ji Sakenge Nahi
Hamako Mil Jaayenge Tumse Jyaada Laakhon Haseen
Par Hamaare Dil Mein Aisi Koyi Hasrat Nahi
Ham Woh Kaliya Jo Jinako Daali Ki Jarurat Nahi
(Tumane Socha Royenge, Jab Hum Tumako Khoyenge
Na Re Na Re Bhaiya, Hum Toh Manaaye Khushiya) 2
Maano Na Maano Rasiya
Girls Rock The World, Now And Forever, Girls Rock The World
Girls Girls Girls, We Have The Power, Girls Rock The World
Hamase Roshan Yeh Jahaan Hai, Hamase Mehake Hawa
Leke Aaye Hum Bahaane Khilati Hai Yeh Fiza
Roop Hamaare Mein Woh Jaadu Ho Jaaye Yuun Nasha
Inn Adaao Mein Hai Milati Jine Ki Har Wajah
(Chup Ho Gaye Na Tum Jo Ho Gaye Gumsum
Sun Ke Baat Badhiya, Maan Gaye Na Saiyaan) 2
O Hamase Hai Saari Duniya
(Girls Rock The World, Now And Forever, Girls Rock The World
Girls Girls Girls, We Have The Power, Girls Rock The World) 2
