National Security Cutter

The United States Coast Guard's National Security Cutter (NSC), also known as the Legend-class cutter and Maritime Security Cutter, Large, is the largest of several new cutter designs developed as part of the Integrated Deepwater System Program. Eight ships are in the Program of Record.

Design

The Legend-class cutters are the second longest of all U.S. Coast Guard cutters, behind the research icebreaker Healy, and will replace the twelve Hamilton-class cutters in service. These cutters are envisioned by the Coast Guard as being able to undertake the entire range of the High Endurance Cutter roles with additional upgrades to make it more of an asset to the Department of Defense during declared national emergency contingencies. These vessels can be used for intercepting suspect vessels, or for rescuing swimmers, fishery protection, maritime homeland security missions, counter terrorism, or coastal patrol missions. To facilitate intercept missions, the Legend class can carry and launch both the Short Range Prosecutor and the Long Range Interceptor RHIBs.

station is currently owned by Prince Educational Media, Inc.

History

The station was assigned the call letters WPBS on 1987-04-01. On 1987-09-15, the station changed its call sign to the current WMSL. The Station is Licensed to Prince Educational Media, Inc. 2121 Ruth Jackson Road, Bogart, Georgia 30622. Updated phone information - 770-725-8890. The 96.3 translator frequency is no longer a part of the WMSL operation. 97.5 continues to be used north and west of Athens.

Mission

WMSL has been a source of Christian Music for more than 25 years. WMSL remains the only full time, full service, full power station with Christian programming in the region. The station has served as a broadcast ministry of Prince Avenue Baptist Church in Bogart, Georgia to families here and around the world since signing on in December of 1987.

WMSL is licensed as a non-commercial, educational, community supported station, with acknowledgements of businesses and individuals who support the station with prayer and funding. Funds and gifts provided to the station are tax deductible as support to a 501c-3 organization.
