WDSM (710 AM) is a talk radio station in Duluth, Minnesota, (licensed to Superior, Wisconsin). WDSM was created in 1938 as an affiliate of the Mutual Broadcasting System. The requested call letters were W Duluth Superior Mutual. WDSM provided Mutual programming throughout the Iron Range of Northern Minnesota as well as the Duluth-Superior market. WDSM switched network affiliations with NBC powerhouse WEBC in 1955. This was a direct result of WDSM's commitment to television and its founding of WDSM Channel 6 on March 1, 1954 as a NBC affiliate. WDSM stayed with NBC Radio until the early 1990s. The station aired a country format during the 1980s, and then sports radio during the 1990s.
WDSM is owned by Midwest Communications, which also owns KDWZ, WDUL, KDAL, KTCO, and KDAL-FM in Duluth. All the Duluth stations share the same studio location at 715 East Central Entrance, up the hill from downtown.
The station airs syndicated talk programs such as Coast to Coast AM, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, and Sean Hannity.
