Vir Das

Vir Das (born 31 May 1979) is an Indian Bollywood actor and comedian.

Personal life

Vir Saran Das was born in Dehradun and has lived in Africa and studied in Indian Language School in Lagos, Nigeria, Shimla and Delhi. He obtained a Bachelor's degree from Knox College, Illinois in Economics & Theatre with a concentration in performance. Vir is also a brother of Knox's Delta Theta chapter of Sigma Nu fraternity. After graduating from Knox, Vir was accepted into Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts for their Stanislavsky Program in coalition with the Moscow Arts Theatre.

He married his girlfriend of five years, Shivani Mathur in October, 2014

Career

It was at Knox that Vir first explored stand-up comedy with his first (1-1/2 hour) special, Brown Men Can't Hump, which debuted in Knox's Harbach Theatre. He received a Richter Scholarship for Theatre and later went on to win the Colton Performance Award for Outstanding Achievement in Acting from Knox. He was a teaching assistant for Beginning Acting at Knox. At Harvard, Vir trained as a method actor for six months and performed eight plays with the Moscow Arts Theatre.

Vir

Vir (pronounced [v̞îːr]; Italian: Puntadura, Dalmatian: Punta de Ura), an island on the Croatian coast of the Adriatic Sea with an area of 22 km², lies north of the city of Zadar. It is connected to the mainland via a road bridge. The main village on the island, the eponymous village of Vir, had a population of 1,608 As of 2001. There are two more villages, Lozice and Torovi. The highest peak on the island is Bandira (112 m).

History

The first known mention of Vir was in Mare Nostrum Dalmaticum (1069), a charter by king Peter Krešimir IV, where the island is referred to as Ueru (Veru), a word believed to have an ancient Mediterranean origin, meaning "pasture".

Overpopulation

Vir is notorious/famous for its overpopulation during the summer holiday season. The cause of this is the fact that there are hundreds of smaller and larger privately owned resort-houses on it. These houses arose in the 1980s after the then Yugoslav government at one point considered building a nuclear power plant on Vir because it was so barren. Because of that, the real-estate prices dropped so low that, atypically, many people could buy a parcel of land there.

Virú

Virú is a town in Northern Peru, capital of the province Virú in the region La Libertad. This town is located 48 km south Trujillo city and is primarily an agricultural center in the Viru Valley.

Viré is a commune in the Saône-et-Loire department in the region of Bourgogne in eastern France.

Wine

Vineyards of Viré are part of the appellation d'origine contrôlée Viré-Clessé, which is used for white wines from Chardonnay grapes. Before 1999, the wines used to be called Mâcon-Viré.
