Vinay Kumar

Ranganath Vinay Kumar (born 12 February 1984) is an Indian cricket player who has represented India at Test, One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 levels. He is a right-arm medium fast bowler who plays domestic cricket for Karnataka and also in the Indian Premier League for the Mumbai Indians. He captained Karnataka to two consecutive Ranji Trophy titles in 2013–14 and 2014–15 seasons.

Personal life

Vinay Kumar was born in Davangere, Karnataka, on 12 February 1984. His father was an auto rickshaw driver. He attended a government school in Davangere before graduating from the A.R.G. Arts and Commerce College with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Vinay Kumar married Richa on 2 December 2013.

Early career (2004–2010)

Vinay Kumar was selected for Karnataka's Ranji Trophy team in the 2004–05 season and made his Debut against Bengal. He was the Ranji Trophy's second-highest wicket-taker in the 2007–08 season, with 40 at an average of 18.52. He was signed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008. He is Affectionately Called as "The Davangere Express" .

Biography

Born in India in 1944, Dr. Kumar graduated with honors, at the age of 17, from University of Poona. He earned his MBBS in 1967, at the age of 22, from Punjab University Medical College, in Amritsar, where he was named "Best Medical Graduate" for that year, winning the Pfizer Award and the Gold Medal for highest achievement as a medical student. He completed both his PhD in experimental pathology and his residency in anatomic pathology and hematology in 1972 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where he was awarded the Khanolkar Prize for outstanding research in pathology.

He is also the senior editor of the pathology reference book Robbins and Cotran Pathologic Basis of Disease.
