Vignesh Shivan

Vignesh Shivan is an Indian film director, actor and lyric writer who works in Tamil cinema. He has been regularly associated in projects involving Silambarasan, Dhanush and Anirudh Ravichander, as well as helming independent music videos.

Early life

Vignesh Shivan is the child of two police officers; his father worked as a superintendent, while his mother works as an inspector in Vadapalani. He studied in Santhome Hr Sec School, Mylapore. He is also a junior of Simbu (Silambarasan) in his school.

Career

Vignesh Shivan made a short film and after getting Dharan to compose music for it; showed the film to producers, Gemini Film Circuit, and then to his childhood friend, Silambarasan and both parties agreed to collaborate to make it a feature film titled Podaa Podi (2012). The joint producers of the film, Shanaya Telefilms, released a series of posters in June 2008 publicising the film, while Silambarasan and Vignesh toured in Canada scouting for locations and agreeing a deal with Mayor Ron Stevens to film in Orillia and Toronto. The film languished in production for close to four years, before finally releasing in October 2012 to mixed reviews. He then continued to be active in films by working as a lyricist, filming independent music videos and appearing in an acting role as an engineer in Velaiyilla Pattathari (2014).

Vignesh is a Tamil film actor from Erode. Tamil Nadu, India. He has acted in several movies including Kizhakku Cheemayile, Kathali, Raman Abdullah, Velai, Appu, Ilango, Ennai Thalatta Varuvala, Soori and Aacharya.

Even though he has acted in several films, he was unable to get a breakthrough, and notably turned down an offer to star in Bala's Sethu, which went on to catapult Vikram to stardom.

Career

He then starred in Chellakkannu, which told the tragic story of a young couple caught between feuding families, and the film performed well and ran for over one hundred days at the box office. The film had featured him alongside actress Yuvarani, as did Pasumpon, while his Nadodi Mannan became a box office failure.

For Soori, Vignesh had to tonsure his head for 70 times. His performance received mixed reviews with critics claiming that Vignesh "tends to go slightly overboard, especially when he howls aloud in agony and "his cries seem over the top". The film went unnoticed at box office, post-release Vignesh signed two projects titled "Ilango" and "Parithi" with both failing to proceed after launch.
