Video on Trial is a Canadian comedy television program that airs on Canadian television network MuchMusic. The show consists of a panel of musicians, comedians, and entertainment columnists critiquing five different music videos in a courtroom-esque manner. The panel acts as the jurors, poking fun at and questioning each artist's behaviour in each video. Artists' personal lives and off-set behaviour are usually mocked by the critics in relation to the music video. They are shown in separate clips to use their opinions.
Since its debut on August 15, 2005 the show has become one of the most highly rated and successful shows on MuchMusic, attracting a dedicated cult following and has garnered a Gemini Award nomination. The show also experienced a brief run on American television, airing on television network Fuse TV from October 2011 to early 2012 before being replaced by another series, Special Videos Unit: Video on Trial, based upon the same premise as the original Canadian Video on Trial.
The sixth season of the Canadian television comedy series Video on Trial premiered on MuchMusic on September 27, 2010 and concluded on August 29, 2011. It consists of 30 episodes.
The show uses a courtroom-style format: each episode usually consists of five music videos being "tried" by five different people, usually comedians, musicians, and entertainment columnists, acting as the "jurors". From the first to mid-fifth seasons, the end of each episode featured a final "verdict" given to each video being "tried".
The sixth season currently uses the format introduced in season 5, which featured new graphics and removed the final verdicts that were previously given to each accused video.
This list is arranged in the order in which the episodes were broadcast, and does not include spin-off "specials" (such as Stars on Trial). The list contains the air dates, episode numbers, "accused" music videos, and "jurors" of each episode of the season.
To date, the sixth season marks the final appearances by popular jurors Marty Adams and Ron Sparks.
The ninth season of the Canadian television comedy series Video on Trial premiered on MuchMusic on June 8th, 2014. For this season, the series was revamped. Aisha Alfa and Paul Lemieux star in the new version. The short lived season introduced a strictly controlled format featuring reoccurring sketches and segments, until being cancelled by Much's corporate parent Bell Media on July 11, 2014 officially announced as part of an internal job reduction but most likely a change in broadcasting policies.
This list is arranged in the order in which the episodes were broadcast, and does not include spin-off "specials" (such as Stars on Trial). The list contains the air dates, episode numbers, and "accused" music videos of each episode of the season.
