Vera Bradley

Vera Bradley is the name of a luggage and handbag design company founded by Barbara Bradley Baekgaard and Patricia Miller in 1982. It is an American design company best known for its patterned bags. The Fort Wayne, Indiana company produces a variety of products, including handbags, luggage, and accessories.

History

While traveling through the Atlanta, Georgia airport, neighbors Barbara Bradley Baekgaard and Patricia Miller noticed the fact that there were no feminine looking luggage styles. They started the company with five hundred dollars, (each contributing $250). The name comes from Baekgaard's mother, Vera, who was a stylish inspiration, formerly a model for Elizabeth Arden. In three years, the company expanded into a multimillion-dollar company. Net revenues from continuing operations totaled $509.0 million for the fiscal year ended January 31, 2015.

Miller and Baekgaard were awarded with Entrepreneur of the Year in 1987.

Vera Bradley bags come in several sizes and styles, as well as many different patterns and colors. There are handbags, totes, travel duffels, backpacks, and diaper bags. The Company has broadened its product assortment from quilted cotton bags to include solid microfiber, leather, faux leather, and several other fabrications.

Bradley (ward)

Bradley is one of the 20 electoral wards that form the Parliamentary constituency of Pendle, Lancashire, England. The ward elects three councillors to represent the Bradley area, the north-west part of Nelson, on Pendle Borough Council. As of the May 2011 Council election, Bradley had an electorate of 4,581.

Bradley (automobile)

The Bradley was an automobile manufactured in Cicero, Illinois, USA, by the Bradley Motor Car Company. Production commenced in 1920 with the Model H tourer, which was powered by a 4 cylinder Lycoming engine, had a 116-inch wheelbase, and a selling price of $1295.

In 1921 the Model H continued in production, but was joined by the 6 cylinder powered Model F, also available as a tourer for $1500.

In November 1920, the company went into involuntary receivership, with liabilities of approximately $100,000. Although the assets held by the company were greater, including finished and party-assembled vehicles, along with a large inventory, the company was bankrupt by the end of 1921. Total production of the Bradley automobile was 263 cars.
