Vain may refer to:
Vain (1966–1991) was a champion Thoroughbred racehorse that dominated Australian sprint racing in the period 1968–70, when he won 12 of the 14 races he contested and ran second in the other two. He went on to become a leading sire in Australia.
The chestnut colt was sired by the leading sire Wilkes (FR), and his dam, Elated, was by the good sire Orgoglio (GB), who sired 21 stakes winners that had 37 stakes wins. Elated was a good racemare that won 10 races, including eight in Melbourne. Although she produced several foals, Vain was her only stakes winner.
Vain was bred and raced by Melbourne brothers Walter, Fred, and George Johnson and was trained by Jim Moloney in the Melbourne suburb of Mordialloc. His normal jockey was Pat Hyland, who rode him to all his wins.
As a two-year-old, Vain was undefeated in Melbourne in the spring of 1968 and autumn of 1969, winning races such as the VRC Sires Produce. Moving to Sydney, he won the STC Golden Slipper Stakes by four lengths and the AJC Champagne Stakes by 10 lengths, the latter in the fastest time ever recorded for a two-year-old over six furlongs.
Vain is an American heavy metal band from San Francisco Bay Area, California, formed in 1986. As of 2011, the lineup consists of Davy Vain (lead vocals), Jamie Scott (guitar), Danny West (guitar), Ashley Mitchell (bass) and Louie Senor (drums).
After recording a demo, Davy Vain founded Vain in 1986, adding Scott, West, Mitchell and drummer Tom Rickard to the lineup. They signed with Island Records in 1988, before releasing their debut album the following year, titled No Respect, which peaked at number 154 on the Billboard 200.
Though they recorded a second album, Vain were released by Island in 1991, with West and Rickard departing the same year. Following the addition of both Shawn Rorie and former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler, Vain renamed themselves Road Crew. However, they also disbanded in 1991. The band reformed in 1993 and go through a number of lineup changes for the release of their next two studio albums. By 2005, Scott and West had returned to the band, while Rickard would rejoin them in 2009 (before departing again the following year).
Norther was a Finnish melodic death metal band from Espoo, Finland. The band broke up in 2012.
Norther formed under the name Requiem (Lindroos, Korpas, Hallio) in 1996 after various early stage band formations. The band's debut effort was the album, Dreams of Endless War, released through Spinefarm Records in 2002. The album entered the Finnish charts at position 17. At the time, Norther was playing shows only in and around the Helsinki area. That changed when the album Mirror of Madness came out in early 2003 (entering the Finnish charts at position 11). The group toured with Dimmu Borgir and Hypocrisy in late 2003. In early 2004, Norther released its third full-length album, Death Unlimited, which reached 17 on the Finnish charts.
Norther played several shows in 2005 and then recorded an EP, Solution7 (recorded at Astia Studio). It landed in the official Finnish charts at position five. Norther added Kristian Ranta's vocals afterward. In the summer of 2005, Norther used Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden, to record their fourth full length-album named Till Death Unites Us, with producers Fredrik Nordström & Patrick J. Sten. Soon after recording the album, Toni Hallio left the band to pursue other interests; Heikki Saari replaced him at drums. After its release in January 2006, Till Death Unites Us was number six on the Finnish album charts. Later the same year, the band composed the theme song ("Frozen Angel") for a major Finnish feature film, V2: Dead Angel produced by Solarfilms, Inc. The band is also featured in the film. In February 2007 Norther released a new EP, No Way Back, released only in Finland and Japan. The record hit number one in the Finnish charts. Later that year the released Amoral & Drone, and supported it with a European tour.
You have told a thousand lies
Told then a thousand times
Your words just create lies
No one will symphathize
Recognize that trust in you has died
You just don't realize 'cause you're dead inside
Maliciously you deceive, cunningness as your, salvation
Broken promises you've made, empty words you've said
You care for none but your own, just for your own
The nothing you've become!, the nothing you've become
My anger is aimed at you
Eternally I hate you
My rage is aimed at you
I really love to hate you
You are straying
Been excelling in failing
You fake it, mistake it
Can't stand the ways you mess with your life
Can't stand the person you've become
You're living in a life, there's nothing inside
Maliciously you deceive, cunningness as your, salvation
Broken promises you've made, empty words you've said
You care for none but your own, just for your own
The nothing you've become, the nothing you've become
