Utajärvi is a municipality of Finland.
It is located in the province of Oulu and is part of the Northern Ostrobothnia region. The municipality has a population of 2,911 (30 June 2015) and covers an area of 1,736.70 square kilometres (670.54 sq mi) of which 65.55 km2 (25.31 sq mi) is water. The population density is 1.74 inhabitants per square kilometre (4.5/sq mi). The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
The municipality is probably best known of the moraine region of Rokua, which is a popular summer and sports resort.
The popular rockgroup 22-Pistepirkko was formed in Utajärvi in 1980.
