Utah Opera
The Utah Opera is an American opera company that has been merged with Utah Symphony since 2002.
In 1978, the Utah Opera presented its first production of Puccini's La bohème. The founding General Director, the tenor Glade Peterson, lead the company during the initial twelve seasons until his death in 1990. Under his leadership, the number of performances for each opera was set at five.
In 1991, Anne Ewers was appointed General Director.Her tenure was marked by the casting of younger artists, including singers, composers, directors, lighting and costume designers. In 1996/97, the company grew from a three-production to a four-production season. Ewers was named as President and CEO.

Utah is the most religiously homogeneous state in the United States, the only state with a Mormon majority, and the only state with a majority population belonging to a single church.
