Urban districts of Ukraine

An urban district or urban raion (Ukrainian: Райони у містах України) is an administrative division of certain cities in Ukraine. An urban district is subordinate to the city administration.

Overview

There are 111 districts in 19 cities of Ukraine. The cities that contain district division in a city usually are of national (such as Kiev and Sevastopol) or regional significance. The number of districts in city per region varies between the minimum of two and up to 21 in Donetsk Oblast (the maximum districts in a single city are in Kiev).

The Article 133 of the Constitution of Ukraine states that districts in cities are element of the administrative-territorial division of state, while the Article 140 states that issues in organization of management of districts in cities belongs to the competence of city's councils.

The status of Kiev city is defined by the Law of Ukraine "About capital of Ukraine - Hero-city Kiev".

List of urban districts of Vietnam

The urban district (Vietnamese: quận Chữ nôm: (郡)) is the second-level administrative subdivision in Vietnam. Other kinds of second-level administrative subdivision of Vietnam are the rural district (huyện), the provincial cities (thành phố trực thuộc tỉnh), and the town (Thị xã). Urban districts can only subordinate to the centrally-controlled municipalities. The urban district is subdivided into wards (phường).

Before 1975, in South Vietnam, all second-level administrative subdivisions are called districts (quận), regardless of urban or rural areas. For example, quận Châu Thành, Vĩnh Long Province is in the urban of present Vĩnh Long city, and quận Trà Ôn was the rural of present Vĩnh Long Province.

As of December 31, 2008, Vietnam has 46 urban districts.Ho Chi Minh City with 19 urban districts has the most. Cần Thơ City with 5 urban districts has the least.
