Citizenship

Citizenship is the status of a person recognized under the custom or law as being a member of a country. A person may have multiple citizenships and a person who does not have citizenship of any state is said to be stateless.

Nationality is often used as a synonym for citizenship in English – notably in international law – although the term is sometimes understood as denoting a person's membership of a nation (a large ethnic group). In some countries, e.g. the United States, the United Kingdom, nationality and citizenship can have different meanings (for more information, see Nationality#Nationality versus citizenship).

Determining factors

A person can be a citizen for several reasons. Usually citizenship of the place of birth is automatic; in other cases an application may be required. Each country has their own policies and regulations which change the criteria of who is issued citizenship.

Citizen (album)

Citizen is the debut full-length album by Army of Me. Its first single is "Going Through Changes" which appears on racing video game Burnout Dominator and later on Burnout Paradise. The song "Better Run" is featured in ABC Family's Kyle XY in the episode "Primary Colors" originally aired on February 25, 2008.

Upfront

In the North American television industry, an upfront is a group of gatherings hosted at the start of important advertising sales periods by television network executives, attended by the press and major advertisers. It is so named because of its main purpose, to allow marketers to buy television commercial airtime "up front", or several months before the television season begins.

The first upfront presentation was made by ABC in 1962, in an attempt to find out how advertisers felt about the network's new shows.

In the United States, the major broadcast networks' upfronts occur in New York City during the third week of May, the last full week of that month's sweeps period. The networks announce their fall primetime schedules, including tentative launch dates (i.e., fall or midseason) for new television programming, which may be "picked up" the week before. The programming announcements themselves are usually augmented with clips from the new television series, extravagant musical numbers, comedic scenes, and appearances by network stars, and take place at grand venues such as Lincoln Center, Radio City Music Hall, or Carnegie Hall. It is also the time when it is announced (by virtue of not being on the fall schedule) which shows are canceled for the next season. In recent years, the networks have mostly revealed this information to the public a few days before the actual presentation. Most cable networks present earlier in the spring since they usually program for the summer months; press attention to these announcements is usually much lighter.

The New York Times Upfront

The New York Times Upfront is a newsmagazine for high school students, published by Scholastic Inc. with articles and other content provided by reporters from The New York Times.

More than 15,000 social studies and English/language arts teachers nationwide subscribe to Upfront for their students. The magazine is designed to augment the curricula of a course by bringing current events into a classrooms. The magazine is also intended to boost high school students' non-fiction reading skills. Published 14 times during the school year, Upfront has a circulation of approximately 325,000, up 25% in the last three years, with a readership of over 900,000 high school students, since teachers generally use the magazine with more than one class, and often share the magazine with other teachers.

Upfront is edited for a high school audience, with articles of interest to teenagers that explain how news events relate to them and their futures. Although Upfront is targeted at a high school audience some teachers use it for a younger, gifted audience.

Upfront (David Sanborn album)

Upfront is the 16th recorded album by notable jazz musician David Sanborn. This album was quite important for Sanborn as it took a focus on other instruments instead of the saxophone being the prime instrument. Instruments such as the organ, drums, and guitar all play a role on this album. Some key musicians collaborated with Sanborn on this album including Eric Clapton, William Spaceman Patterson, John Purcell, Marcus Miller, Ricky Peterson, and Steve Jordan.
