Union (TTC)

Union Station is a subway station on the Yonge–University line in Toronto, Canada and is one of the 12 original stations on the city's first section of subway, which opened in 1954. It is also the terminus of the 509 Harbourfront and 510 Spadina streetcar routes.

Union Station is located on Front Street between the Yonge Street and University Avenue sections of the line. It directly connected to the railway station and regional bus terminal of the same name. Based on Toronto's street grid, Union is the southernmost subway station; however, using standard compass directions, Kipling and Islington Stations are further south.

Union connects the subway with GO Transit, Via Rail, Union Pearson Express trains, and GO Transit buses. It serves approximately 100,000 people a day, ranking it as the fourth-busiest station in the system, after Bloor-Yonge, St. George & Sheppard–Yonge and the system's busiest station served by only one line. Wi-fi service is available at this station.

Union (Toni Childs album)

Union is the debut album of the American singer/songwriter Toni Childs. Released in 1988, the album peaked at #63 in the US (where it has since been certified Gold for sales of over 500,000 copies). It also peaked at #1 in New Zealand where it was certified 5x Platinum (75,000 copies sold).

The album was recorded in London, Paris, and Swaziland. Following its release, Childs was nominated for two Grammy Awards (for 'Best New Artist' and for 'Best Rock Vocal Performance (Female)' for the single "Don't Walk Away").

Trans-Texas Corridor

The Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC) was a proposal for a transportation network in the U.S. State of Texas that was conceived to be composed of a new kind of transportation modality known as supercorridors. The TTC was initially proposed in 2001 and after considerable controversy was discontinued by 2010 in the planning and early construction stages.

The network, as originally envisioned, would have been composed of a 4,000-mile (6,400 km) network of supercorridors up to 1,200 feet (370 m) wide to carry parallel links of tollways, rails, and utility lines. It was intended to route long-distance traffic around population centers, and to provide stable corridors for future infrastructure improvements–such as new power lines from wind farms in West Texas to the cities in the east–without the otherwise often lengthy administrative and legal procedures required to build on privately owned land. The tollway portion would have been divided into two separate elements: truck lanes and lanes for passenger vehicles. Similarly, the rail lines in the corridor would have been divided among freight, commuter, and high-speed rail. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) intended to "charge public and private concerns for utility, commodity or data transmission" within the corridor, in essence making a toll road for services such as water, electricity, natural gas, petroleum, fiber optic lines, and other telecommunications services. The network would have been funded by private investors and built and expanded as demand warrants.
