Undo

Undo is a command in many computer programs. It erases the last change done to the document reverting it to an older state. In some more advanced programs such as graphic processing, undo will negate the last command done to the file being edited.

The opposite of undo is redo. The redo command reverses the undo or advances the buffer to a more current state.

In most Windows applications, the Undo command is activated by pressing the Ctrl+Z or Alt+Backspace keybindings. In all Macintosh applications, the Undo command is activated by pressing Command-Z. The common command for Redo on Microsoft Windows systems is Ctrl+Y or Ctrl+Shift+Z. The common command for Redo on Apple Macintosh systems is Command-Shift-Z.

History

The Xerox PARC Bravo text editor had an Undo command in 1974.Behavioral Issues in the Use of Interactive Systems, a 1976 research report by Lance A. Miller and John C. Thomas of IBM, noted that "It would be quite useful to permit users to 'take back' at least the immediately preceding command (by issuing some special 'undo' command)." The programmers at the Xerox PARC research center assigned the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Z to the undo command, which became a crucial feature of text editors and word processors in the personal computer era.

Undo (Rush of Fools song)

"Undo" is the first record single from contemporary Christian band Rush of Fools. It was released in 2007 from the band's first album Rush of Fools. It was the most played song of the year in 2007 on Christian adult contemporary radio.

This song was also by the compilation album WOW Hits 2008.

Background

The song was written in Nashville, Tennessee, where lead vocalist Wes Willis and guitarist Kevin Huguley were songwriting with producer Scotty D. Huguley said: "We'd got writer's block and [we] ... packed up our guitars and our bags; everything was out by the door and we were saying our goodbyes and this lyric hit one of us, it was just: 'I've been here before, here I am again' ... We picked everything back out and we grabbed our guitars and it was about 45 minutes or an hour and we'd written this song."

Reception

The song received mixed reviews from music critics. Kim Jones, Christian music guide of About.com, called "Undo" an album "highlight" and praised its lyrical composition. In reference to the song's second verse, Jones said, "Honestly; how many teens do you know that are that real and introspective?". Jesus Freak Hideout's review was less positive towards the song, describing it as "kind of a 'paint by numbers' ballad that is commonly found on CHR [radio] stations."Christian Music Today editor Russ Breimeier was generally negative towards the band's first album, but said that the song possessed "a refreshing openness in its prayerful confession of sinful nature".

Undo (Sanna Nielsen song)

"Undo" is a song by Swedish singer Sanna Nielsen. The track was written and composed by Fredrik Kempe, David Kreuger, Hamed "K-One" Pirouzpanah. It premiered on 8 February 2014, as part of the second semi-final in Melodifestivalen 2014. The song successfully progressed to the final. The single was officially released on 23 February 2014, part of the EP of the same title. Undo is an uptempo ballad.

On 8 March, the song won the Melodifestivalen 2014 final beating Ace Wilder's "Busy Doin' Nothin'" by only two points and represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in the first semifinal on 6 May.

In the final, on 10 May 2014, after the results came through, "Undo" finished the contest in 3rd place with 218 points. With this score, "Undo" became the second highest scoring Swedish entry at Eurovision after Euphoria.

"Undo" won the OGAE vote with 354 winning the voting after all countries had voted.

Critical reception

The song's reviews were mostly positive and was often described as the selection's favorite. Olivier Rocher of Oikotimes described it as "the hot favorite of the night". He also said that "Undo" is less memorable compared to her previous Melodifestivalen entries. Billy Xifaras of Wiwibloggs said that Nielsen is perhaps one of the strongest artists in the second semi-final. He also compared the song with "Wrecking Ball" by saying that "in the beginning it is similar to Miley Cyrus' hit".

Undo

by: Guy Sebastian

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like
If I could go back in time
I would go back, stop myself from making
The biggest mistake of my life
And we had it good so why'd we risk it
It wasn't broke so why'd we fix it
Sometimes I wish that I could hit reverse
[Chorus:]
Tell me what can I say
Tell me what can I do
Can I make you stay
Can I hit undo
Tell me is there a way
Cause I know never to
Can I make you stay
Can I hit undo
Now I realise that this will never work
And love has reached the end
Yeah I realise
But I don't understand why you and I
Can't just go back to being friends
I had my cake so why'd I eat it
Wish that I could just apple z it
Somebody show me how to hit reverse
[Chorus]
Don't say that it's all or nothing
All I'm asking for is something
That we can find a way
To make it alright
Don't say that it's all too late now
I don't want this to be our fate now
Somebody show me how to get back where we started
