As of 2001 India census, Unn had a population of 28,761. Males constitute 65% of the population and females 35%. Unn has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 56%. In Unn, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Surat

Surat, previously known as Suryapur, is a city in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is the administrative capital of the Surat district. The city is located 284 kilometres (176 mi) south of the state capital, Gandhinagar; 265 kilometres (165 mi) south of Ahmedabad; and 289 kilometres (180 mi) north of Mumbai. The city center is located 22 km (14 mi) south of the Tapti River.

Surat had a population of 4.6 million at the 2011 census, making it the second largest city in the state of Gujarat, after Ahmedabad. Surat is selected as the first smart IT city in India which is being constituted by the Microsoft CityNext Initiative tied up with IT services majors Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro. In May, 2015 Tech giant IBM has chosen Surat among 16 global locations for its smart cities programme. The city has 2.97 million internet users which is about 65% of total population.

Surat (Lok Sabha constituency)

Surat Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 26 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in Gujarat. Veteran BJP strongman Kashiram Rana has been an MP from this seat for 6 terms. Surat was also the constituency of the 7th Prime Minister of India Morarji Desai, who has been an MP for this constituency for 5 terms. Surat has elected BJP leaders as MP since 1989 with overwhelming margins.
