Uhl is a Himalayan stream which is part of the watershed of Beas river. The river originates at the Thamsar Glacier in the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas, flows through the Uhl valley crossing Bada Gran and Barot, both villages in the Uhl valley. In the lower part of its course, it is also known as Tiun Nala and the Uhl valley is known as Chohar valley. After passing the Chohar valley, Uhl meets the Beas river 5 km downstream from Pandoh.
Uhl originates from a lake formed by the Thamsar Glacier in higher Dhauladhar range. The lake is very close to the Thamsar Pass, which lies on the trail to Bada Bhangal. From Thamsar, where it starts as a small mountain stream, Uhl reaches Palachak, a temporary settlement on the Uhl, where a tributary joins it from the right bank. 18 km downstream at Barot, Uhl is joined by Lumba Dugh from the left bank. Lumba Dugh also originates in the East of Dhauladhar range and flows along Luhardi before meeting Uhl.
On the left bank of the river Uhl in Kamand(12 km from Mandi town) permanent campus of Indian Institute of Technology Mandi is located, spread over 520 acres (2.1 km2) of land.
UHL or Uhl may refer to:
The United Hockey League (UHL), originally known as the Colonial Hockey League from 1991 to 1997 and last known as the International Hockey League from 2007 to 2010, was a low-level minor professional ice hockey league, with teams in the United States and Canada. The league was headquartered in Rochester, Michigan, and in its last year, consisted of seven teams. It folded in 2010, with most of its teams joining the Central Hockey League, which in turn merged with the ECHL in 2014; the Quad City Mallards, Elmira Jackals, Evansville IceMen, Fort Wayne Komets, and Kalamazoo Wings are the only former UHL/IHL teams still active as of 2015.
The UHL was originally formed in 1991 as the Colonial Hockey League and had teams in Brantford, Ontario; Detroit, Michigan; Flint, Michigan; St. Thomas, Ontario; and Thunder Bay, Ontario; the avowed goal of the league organizers was to fill the low-level niche in the Great Lakes area abandoned by the original International Hockey League as the latter league engaged in upmarket expansion. As time passed, the CoHL moved eastward, into places like Glens Falls, NY; Danbury, CT; Utica, NY; Binghamton, NY; and Richmond, VA. During that expansion, the league was renamed United Hockey League (UHL) and the headquarters was moved to Lake St. Louis, Missouri in 1997.
This page lists characters from the television series Firefly.
Malcolm Reynolds, played by Nathan Fillion, is owner and captain of the Firefly-class spaceship Serenity, and was a volunteer in the war between the Alliance and the Independents (aka "Browncoats"). He got the name for his spaceship from a famous battle he fought and commanded in, the Battle of Serenity Valley. When asked why he named his ship after a lost battle, Zoe comments "Once you're in Serenity, you never leave. You just learn how to live there." He is fiercely loyal to those he calls his crew.
Malcolm's main mission is to keep his crew alive and to keep his ship flying. As Firefly writer Tim Minear stated in an interview: "It's just about getting by. That's always been the mission statement of what the show is — getting by." In "Serenity", Mal says of himself: "[If the] Wind blows northerly, I go North."
Screens from Serenity suggest that Mal was born on September 20, 2468 — which would make him 49 at the time of the series Firefly — though, as the average human lifespan is 120, this would make him the equivalent of a man in his early 30s today. Mal was raised by his mother and "about 40 hands" on a ranch on the planet Shadow. Though Mal usually seems more practical than intellectual, he occasionally surprises his friends by displaying familiarity with disparate literature varying from the works of Xiang Yu to poems by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, though he has no idea "who" Mona Lisa is.
