U.S. Route 93

U.S. Route 93 (US 93) is a major north–south United States highway in the western United States. The southern terminus is at US 60 in Wickenburg, Arizona. The northern terminus is at the Canadian border north of Eureka in Lincoln County, Montana, where the roadway continues into Roosville, British Columbia, as Highway 93. Major cities that US 93 travels through include Las Vegas, Nevada, Twin Falls, Idaho, Missoula, Montana, and Kalispell, Montana.

Route description

Arizona

US 93 begins at US 60 in Wickenburg, a small town about 50 miles (80 km) northwest of Phoenix. 30 miles (48 km) northwest of Wickenburg, it passes through a large forest of Joshua Trees, and is thus labeled the Arizona Joshua Parkway until it merges with I-40 to Kingman. US 93 then splits from I-40 in Kingman and heads north to the Hoover Dam. Chloride is located off this highway, and Santa's Land remains are on the west side about 15 miles (24 km) before the Chloride exit.

This highway was known to be one of the deadliest highways in America until recently. The years of improvement have made it a much safer road to travel, according to the Federal Highway Administration.

U.S. Route 93 in Idaho

U.S. Route 93 (US 93) is a north–south U.S. Highway in the U.S. state of Idaho.

Route description

US 93 enters southern Idaho from Nevada, immediately north of the border casino town of Jackpot. Heading northbound in Twin Falls County, it passes through Rogerson and Hollister towards Twin Falls. West of the city, US 93 turns and runs east–west for a few miles, parallel with US 30. This section is Pole Line Road; the highway returns to its north–south orientation in Twin Falls at the intersection of Pole Line Road and Blue Lakes Boulevard.

North of Twin Falls, US 93 crosses the Snake River Canyon via the Perrine Bridge, 486 feet (148 m) above the water. Approximately 3 miles (5 km) north of the bridge, the highway intersects with Interstate 84 at exit 173.

Further north in Shoshone, US 93 connects with the southern terminus of State Highway 75, the former route of US 93 to Ketchum and over Galena Summit8,701 to Stanley and Clayton. Present-day US 93 diverts in a northeasterly route to Richfield, Carey, the Craters of the Moon, and Arco. Between Shoshone and Arco the highway runs concurrently with the east–west US 26, and also with US 20 between Carey and Arco.

U.S. Route 93 in Nevada

In the U.S. state of Nevada, U.S. Route 93 (US 93) is a major United States Highway traversing the eastern edge of the state. The highway connects the Las Vegas area to the Great Basin National Park, and provides further connections to Ely and Wells. US 93 also provides the majority of the most direct connection between the major metropolitan areas of Las Vegas and Phoenix (via Boulder City, Kingman and Wickenburg with a final link to Phoenix via US 60).

Route description

U.S. Route 93 in Nevada is known as the Great Basin Highway throughout the state. It begins at the Mike O'Callaghan – Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge in Boulder City. The highway overlaps U.S. Route 95 for 3.2 miles from an interchange between downtown Boulder City and the Railroad Pass Hotel and Casino to Interstate 215. It runs to the Las Vegas Valley passing through the cities of Henderson, Las Vegas and North Las Vegas. U.S. 93 merges with Interstate 15 at the Spaghetti Bowl interchange and overlaps I-15 for approximately 21 miles. After overlapping I-15, U.S. 93 heads northwest towards Alamo.
