U.S. Route 395 in Nevada

U.S. Route 395 (US 395) clips a corner of the U.S. state of Nevada near Lake Tahoe and serves the cities of Gardnerville, Minden, Carson City and Reno. All of US 395 north of Carson City is a freeway and is built up to Interstate standards. Part of the freeway section is also designated as Interstate 580.

Route description

U.S. 395 enters Nevada at Topaz Lake as a two lane highway and gradually winds its way to Carson Valley where it becomes the principal thoroughfare for the Minden-Gardnerville area. Upon entering the Carson Valley 395 becomes a 4 lane highway through Minden and Gardnerville. Upon leaving Minden the highway becomes a 4 lane divided highway and turns due north towards Carson City.

At the south end Carson City, the route intersects US 50. The two routes overlap northbound on South Carson Street, then turn east on a temporary alignment along Fairview Drive to the Carson City Freeway—the freeway bypass between these two points is awaiting construction. US 50 departs from the highway at William Street, while Interstate 580 begins here and heads north through Carson City concurrent with US 395.

U.S. Route 395

U.S. Route 395 is a U.S. Route in the western United States. The southern terminus of the route is in the Mojave Desert at Interstate 15 near Hesperia. The northern terminus is at the Canadian border near Laurier, where the road becomes Highway 395 upon entering British Columbia. At one time, the route extended south to San Diego. I-15 replaced the stretch of 395 that ran from San Diego to Hesperia. "Old Highway 395" can be seen along or near I-15 in many locations before it branches off at Hesperia to head north.

The route runs through the U.S. states of California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. US 395 runs along the east side of the Sierra Nevada in the Owens Valley and crosses through the Modoc Plateau along its routing.

The route started out as a spur of U.S. Route 195 and ran north from Spokane. As a result, the route never intersects its parent, U.S. Route 95; it maintains a connection through US 195. US 395 developed into a parallel of its parent route when extended south in the early 1930s. US 395 stays west of its parent route, which runs through Arizona, Nevada, Oregon and Idaho.

U.S. Route 395 in Washington

U.S. Route 395 (US 395) is a major United States Numbered Highway in the U.S. state of Washington, that includes a long overlap with Interstate 90 (I-90) between Ritzville and Spokane. The southern piece, from I-82 near the Tri-Cities to I-90 near Ritzville, is a high-speed four-lane divided highway. From Spokane to the Canada – United States border at Laurier, US 395 is mostly two lanes, with some wider sections near Spokane, including the under-construction North Spokane Corridor freeway.

Route description

The section of US 395 within the state of Washington starts concurrent with I-82 on the Umatilla Bridge, which goes over the Columbia River. From the bridge, the US 395/I-82 freeway goes north and intersects SR 14's eastern terminus before continuing north and splitting from I-82. As US 395 splits, the freeway enters Kennewick, where it intersects SR 240 and crosses the Columbia River on the Blue Bridge.

As the bridge ends, US 395 enters Pasco and joins I-182 and US 12 before exiting north at an interchange with SR 397. From the interchange, US 395 continues north on the eastern side of the Tri-Cities Airport towards Spokane. US 395 goes northeast and intersects numerous state highways, such as SR 17 in Mesa, SR 260 in Connell, SR 26 east of Hatton, and SR 21 east of Lind before joining I-90 south of Ritzville.
