Both universities are located in Los Angeles. The rivalry between the two is among the more unusual in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I sports, because the campuses are only 12 miles (19km) apart, and both are located within the same city. Furthermore, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the home stadium of the Trojans football team, is located closer to the UCLA campus than UCLA is to the Rose Bowl, the home stadium of the Bruins football team.
