Route 91 (MTA Maryland)

Route 91 is a bus route operated by the Maryland Transit Administration in Baltimore. The line currently runs from Sinai Hospital to City Hall, serving the communities of Pimlico, Arlington, Walbrook, and Bolton Hill, Coppin State College and the corridors of Garrison Boulevard and Eutaw Place. The line has the second-highest farebox recovery rate of all MTA bus lines.

The bus route is the successor to the 16 Madison Avenue and 31 Garrison Boulevard streetcar lines.

History

Route 91 started operating in 1987 after being split from the long Route 19. It has followed essentially the same route throughout its lifetime since then, only with the modification of service operating via the Rogers Avenue Metro Subway Station full-time. The line has faced various proposals for consolidation into other lines, but all have been fought.

Origin

The No. 31 Streetcar started operating in 1917. In 1952, it was absorbed by the No. 19 Streetcar, which in 1956 was converted to a bus. The no. 19 bus continued to operate from the Harford Road corridor to Garrison Boulevard for more than 30 years. The route was extended to Sinai Hospital when it absorbed the short lived Bus Route 90, which had operated from 1959 to 1960 between the Belvedere loop to Sinai.

Rhode Island Route 91

Route 91 is a numbered State Highway running 12.0 miles (19.3 km) in Rhode Island.

Route description

Route 91 begins at an intersection with Route 3 (High Street) in the town of Westerly, Rhode Island. Route 91 proceeds eastbound along Oak Street as a two-lane commercial street through Westerly, paralleling the Amtrak Northeast Corridor. In the easternmost extremities of Westerly, the road enters a partial cloverleaf interchange with Route 78 (Westerly Bypass) exit 5. After Route 78, Route 91 changes to Westerly–Bradford Road. The route turns southeast, away from the Northeast Corridor and crosses through flat lands east of Westerly.

Crossing over swampland, Route 91 intersects with Bradford Road, where it turns north along Bradford. The road crosses through some small communities in Westerly, returning to a parallel with the Northeast Corridor. Entering a small commercial center in the town of Westerly, Route 91 continues northeast as Bradford Road and intersects with Route 216. Route 91 and Route 216 proceed north along a concurrency, crossing over the Northeast Corridor. Paralleling the Pawcatuck River, Routes 91 and 216 leave the town of Westerly for the town of Hopkinton.

U.S. Route 69

U.S. Route 69 is a north–south United States highway. When it was first created, it was only 150 miles (241 km) long, but it has since been expanded into a Minnesota to Texas cross-country route. The highway's southern terminus (as well as those of US 287 and US 96) is in Port Arthur, Texas at an intersection with State Highway 87. Its northern terminus is in Albert Lea, Minnesota at Minnesota State Highway 13.

Route description

Texas

US 69 begins at its southern terminus with SH 87 in Port Arthur. This intersection is also the southern terminus for US 96 and US 287, which are concurrent with US 69. US 69, US 96, and US 287 continue in a northwest, then west, route until its intersection with Interstate 10 in southern Beaumont. At this intersection, US 69, US 96, and US 287 merge with I-10. I-10/US 69/US 96/US 287 continue in a northerly direction through Beaumont for several miles. Just after the intersection with US 90, I-10 splits from the multiplex and resumes its easterly course, leaving US 69, US 96, and US 287 heading northwest through Beaumont. US 69 north of I-10 is also known officially known as Eastex Freeway, and is an official evacuation route, just as Interstate 69/US 59 heading north from Houston is known as Eastex Freeway as well.

Wisconsin Highway 110

State Trunk Highway 110 (often called Highway 110, STH 110 or WIS 110) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It runs north–south in central Wisconsin from Fremont to Marion. Its southern terminus is at U.S. Highway 10 and WIS-96 southeast of Fremont. Its northern terminus is at U.S. Highway 45 in Marion.

Route description

The highway begins at an intersection with US 10 and WIS-96 southeast of Fremont. It heads north from US 10 for about half a mile before turning westward. It passes through Fremont and heads to the northwest before turning to the south toward US 10 and WIS-49.

The highway then runs concurrently to the north with US 10 and WIS-49 for about 5 miles (8.0 km). It then splits off and heads northward into Weyauwega. After it leaves the city, the highway continues to the northwest, where it will meet with WIS-22 and WIS-54. It runs concurrently to the north along both highways before WIS-54 splits off. WIS-110 and WIS-54 continue concurrently northward, passing through Manawa. North of Manawa, the highways split and WIS-110 continues to the north. Further along, it enters Marion, where it terminates at US 45.

U.S. Route 160

U.S. Route 160 is a 1,465 mile (2,358 km) long east–west United States highway in the Midwestern United States. The western terminus of the route is at US 89 five miles (8 km) west of Tuba City, Arizona. The eastern terminus is at US 67 and Missouri 158 southwest of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Its route, if not its number, was made famous in song in 1975, as the road from Wolf Creek Pass to Pagosa Springs, Colorado in C.W. McCall's country music song Wolf Creek Pass.

Route description

Arizona

US 160 begins at US 89 near the western edge of Navajo Nation. Near Tuba City, it intersects State Route 264. It goes through Tonalea and Cow Springs before entering Kayenta, where it intersects U.S. Route 163. It continues northeast through Dennehotso, then has a brief overlap with U.S. Route 191 in Mexican Water. It goes east until Teec Nos Pos, where it intersects U.S. Route 64, then turns northeast to go to the Four Corners and enters New Mexico.

US 160 is one of the major routes crossing the Navajo Nation and in Arizona does not leave the Navajo Nation.

California State Route 91

State Route 91 (SR 91) is a major east–west freeway located entirely within Southern California and serving several regions of the Greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. Specifically, it currently runs from Vermont Avenue in Gardena, just west of the junction with the Harbor Freeway (Interstate 110), east to Riverside at the junction with the Pomona (State Route 60 west of SR 91), and Moreno Valley (SR 60 and I-215 east of SR 91) freeways. The route is part of the California Freeway and Expressway System. SR 91 is part of the State Scenic Highway System from SR 55 to the east city limit of Anaheim, in the western part of the Santa Ana Canyon, and is eligible for the system through the canyon to Interstate 15.

SR 91 inherited its route number from the mostly decommissioned US 91, which passed through the Inland Empire in a northeasterly direction on its way to Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and points beyond. Those segments of US 91 are now parallel to, or have been replaced altogether by, I-15. SR 91 officially used to head west all the way to the Pacific Coast Highway (State Route 1) in Hermosa Beach, but this segment was relinquished to local governments in 2003, and is no longer part of a state highway.
