Missouri Route 130

Route 130 is a highway in Linn County, Missouri 6.2 mi (10.0 km) in length. The route is signed in a south–north direction.

Route description

In the south, Route 130 begins at Route 139 in Laclede and heads due west through a rural area. After about 1.9 mi (3.1 km), the highway turns north. Route 130 continues northward for the remainder of its course. It skirts the eastward boundary of Pershing State Park and crosses several creeks before coming to an end at a concurrency between U.S. Route 36 and Route 139.

History

Route 130 was assigned by 1949. However, at the time, the designation only ran a portion of its current length. Between 1974 and 1975, it was extended to its present southern terminus.

Virginia State Route 130

State Route 130 (SR 130) is a primary state highway in the U.S. state of Virginia. The state highway runs 34.69 miles (55.83 km) from U.S. Route 11 (US 11) at Natural Bridge east to SR 669 and SR 670 east of US 29 near Madison Heights. SR 130 runs concurrently with US 501 from Glasgow through the James River gorge through the Blue Ridge Mountains, connecting eastern Rockbridge County with western and southern Amherst County near Lynchburg.

SR 130 is a Virginia Byway west of US 29 Business near Madison Heights.

Route description

SR 130 begins at US 11 (Lee Highway) in the hamlet of Natural Bridge next to Natural Bridge Hotel. The state highway heads east as two-lane Wert Faulkner Highway, which provides access to the visitor center that serves the underside of the National Historic Landmark. At Natural Bridge Station, SR 130 passes by the southern end of Sallings Mountain and under Norfolk Southern Railway's Roanoke District. The state highway passes through the town of Glasgow, where the highway has an at-grade intersection with a rail connector between the Roanoke District and CSX's James River Subdivision. SR 130 exits Glasgow by crossing the Maury River then meets US 501 (Glasgow Highway) at an intersection east of the river.

U.S. Route 69

U.S. Route 69 is a north–south United States highway. When it was first created, it was only 150 miles (241 km) long, but it has since been expanded into a Minnesota to Texas cross-country route. The highway's southern terminus (as well as those of US 287 and US 96) is in Port Arthur, Texas at an intersection with State Highway 87. Its northern terminus is in Albert Lea, Minnesota at Minnesota State Highway 13.

Texas

US 69 begins at its southern terminus with SH 87 in Port Arthur. This intersection is also the southern terminus for US 96 and US 287, which are concurrent with US 69. US 69, US 96, and US 287 continue in a northwest, then west, route until its intersection with Interstate 10 in southern Beaumont. At this intersection, US 69, US 96, and US 287 merge with I-10. I-10/US 69/US 96/US 287 continue in a northerly direction through Beaumont for several miles. Just after the intersection with US 90, I-10 splits from the multiplex and resumes its easterly course, leaving US 69, US 96, and US 287 heading northwest through Beaumont. US 69 north of I-10 is also known officially known as Eastex Freeway, and is an official evacuation route, just as Interstate 69/US 59 heading north from Houston is known as Eastex Freeway as well.

U.S. Route 399

U.S. Route 399 was a U.S. Highway that ran from Ventura, California to Bakersfield, California. It was established in 1934 and deleted in 1964, as it was only 137 miles (219 km) long, less than the minimum 300 miles (480 km) that AASHTO set as the threshold for U.S. Highways. It has been replaced with a segment of State Route 33, all of State Route 119, and a segment of State Route 99.

Route description

From its original junction at U.S. Route 101 in Ventura, California, the route continues along State Route 33 up to Ojai, temporarily joining State Route 150. Leaving Ojai, it continued into the Los Padres National Forest along the Maricopa Highway, with its summit at Pine Mountain. Descending into the Cuyama River Valley, it met State Route 166 and travelled east towards Maricopa past what is now the Carrizo Plain National Monument and crossing the axis of the San Andreas Fault into the southern San Joaquin Valley. In Maricopa, it continued north again with State Route 33 into the southern Midway-Sunset Oil Field and intersecting modern State Route 119 in Taft. From Taft, U.S. 399 followed State Route 119 out of town through Valley Acres and past the modern Buena Vista Recreation Area (the old Buena Vista Lake) towards U.S. Route 99 (now State Route 99) in Pumpkin Center and Greenfield, then with the old alignment of U.S. Route 99 (Union Avenue, SR 99 Bus.) north into Bakersfield where it terminated. This ending, being a useless concurrency, was later truncated to U.S. Route 99 until U.S. Route 399 was decommissioned.

U.S. Route 66

U.S. Route 66 (US 66 or Route 66), also known as the Will Rogers Highway and colloquially known as the Main Street of America or the Mother Road, was one of the original highways within the U.S. Highway System. Route 66 was established on November 11, 1926, with road signs erected the following year. The highway, which became one of the most famous roads in America, originally ran from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before ending at Santa Monica, California, covering a total of 2,448 miles (3,940 km). It was recognized in popular culture by both the hit song "(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66" and the Route 66 television show in the 1960s.

Route 66 served as a major path for those who migrated west, especially during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s, and it supported the economies of the communities through which the road passed. People doing business along the route became prosperous due to the growing popularity of the highway, and those same people later fought to keep the highway alive in the face of the growing threat of being bypassed by the new Interstate Highway System.

U.S. Route 130

U.S. Route 130 (US 130) is a north–south U.S. Highway completely within the state of New Jersey. It runs 83.46 mi (134.32 km) from Interstate 295 (I-295) and US 40 at Deepwater in Pennsville Township, Salem County, where the road continues south as Route 49, north to US 1 in North Brunswick Township, Middlesex County, where Route 171 continues north into New Brunswick. The route briefly runs concurrent with its parent US 30 near Camden, about one-third of the way to New Brunswick. The road runs within a close distance of I-295 south of Bordentown and a few miles from the New Jersey Turnpike for its entire length, serving as a major four- to six-lane divided local road for most of its length. US 130 passes through several towns including Penns Grove, Bridgeport, Westville, Camden, Pennsauken, Burlington, Bordentown, and Hightstown.
