Türk Telekom

Türk Telekom is the formerly state-owned Turkish telecommunications company. Türk Telekom was separated from Turkish Post (PTT) in 1995. In November 2005, it was privatized to Oger Telecom.

Türk Telekom Group provides integrated telecommunication services from PSTN, GSM to wide-band Internet. The Türk Telekom Group companies had 16.8 million PSTN customers, 6 million ADSL customers and 12.1 million GSM customers as of September 30, 2009. With its network substructure covering the whole country, the group's companies offer a wide range of services to personal and corporate customers. Türk Telekom, which owns 99.9% of the shares of the companies TTNET, Argela, Innova, Sebit A.Ş. and AssisTT, is also the owner of 81% of the shares of Avea, which is one of the three GSM operators in Turkey. Türk Telekom also supports Albania's Albtelecom. 55% of the shares of Turk Telekom belongs to Oger Telekomünikasyon A.Ş. and 30% of the shares belongs to Turkey's Undersecretariat of Treasury. The remaining 15% of shares has been offered to the public.

Avea

Avea İletişim Hizmtleri A.Ş., currently operating under the Türk Telekom brand, is the sole GSM 1800 mobile operator of Turkey, was founded in 2004, and has reached a nationwide customer base of 17 million as of September 30, 2015.

TT&TİM İletişim Hizmetleri A.Ş. was officially established on February 19, 2004 as a consequence of the merger between Aycell, Türk Telekom's GSM Operator and İş-TİM which has been established through the partnership of İş Bankası Group with a share of 51% and TIM_(brand) with a share of 49%. Following the merger, for a period Aria and Aycell brands existed under TT&TİM. A totally new brand "Avea", reflecting the synergy from the merger was introduced into the market on June 23, 2004. The business name "TT&TİM İletişim Hizmetleri A.Ş" was replaced with "Avea İletişim Hizmetleri A.Ş." as of October 15, 2004.

The privatization of 55% of Türk Telekom's shares was completed in November 2005, by Oger Telecom's acquisition 55% of Türk Telekom's shares. In September 2006, Türk Telekom acquired Telecom Italia's shares of 40.6% in Avea. Turk Telekom's share is 81.37% in Avea. The remaining 18.63% of the shares belongs to İş Bankası.

TTNET

TTNET A.Ş., operating under the Türk Telekom brand, is the largest Internet service provider in Turkey and has around 7 million subscribers. TTNET is a subsidiary of Türk Telekom Group.

Currently, Mohammad Hariri is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Abdullah Orkun KAYA is the CEO of the TTNET.

In February 2010, TTNET launched a new service called Tivibu, which combines television and cinema. This service allows users to access both television and a library of movies via both mobile phones and computers.

In 27 January 2016, Türk Telekom decided to use single brand "Türk Telekom", for its mobile networking, landlines and internet service provider.

Brands

Tivibu is an Internet television service that is provided by TTNET. This service offers television and cinema experiences to the users in Turkey through its high-speed broadband service. WebTV does not require the user to have a fixed location or a set-top-box. The software and the middleware for Tivibu, have been developed by Argela.
