Early on Hart performed in Washington, D.C. with soul artists such as Otis Redding and Sam and Dave, and then later with Buck Hill and Shirley Horn, and was a sideman with the Montgomery Brothers (1961), Jimmy Smith (1964–1966), and Wes Montgomery (1966–1968). Following Montgomery’s death in 1968, Hart moved to New York, where he recorded with McCoy Tyner, Wayne Shorter, and Joe Zawinul, and played with Eddie Harris, Pharoah Sanders, and Marian McPartland.

Hart was a member of Herbie Hancock's sextet (1969–1973), and played with McCoy Tyner (1973–1974), Stan Getz (1974–1977), and Quest (1980s), in addition to extensive freelance playing (including recording with Miles Davis on 1972's On the Corner).

At age 70, Billy Hart works steadily and teaches widely.[citation needed] Since the early 1990s Hart spends considerable time at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and is adjunct faculty at the New England Conservatory of Music and Western Michigan University. He also conducts private lessons through The New School and New York University. Hart often contributes to the Stokes Forest Music Camp and the Dworp Summer Jazz Clinic in Belgium.

He leads a group with Mark Turner, Ethan Iverson, and Ben Street. He also is featured in a trio led by pianist Jean-Michel Pilc and one led by guitarist Assaf Kehati.

Hart resides in Montclair, New Jersey.[1]

  • V sign

The V sign is a hand gesture in which the index and middle fingers are raised and parted, while the other fingers are clenched. It has various meanings, depending on the cultural context and how it is presented.

When displayed with the palm inward towards the signer, it has long been an offensive gesture in some Commonwealth of Nations. In the 1940s, during World War II, a campaign by the Western Allies to use the sign with the back of the hand towards the signer (U+270C VICTORY HAND in Unicode) as a "V for Victory" sign proved quite effective. During the Vietnam War, in the 1960s, the "V sign" was widely appropriated by the counterculture as a symbol of peace. Shortly thereafter, it also became adopted as a gesture used in photographs, especially in Japan.

    Usage

The meaning of the V sign is partially dependent on the manner in which the hand is positioned:

  • If the palm of the hand faces the signer (i.e., the back of the hand faces the observer), the sign signifies:
    • As an insulting gesture in Australia, the Republic of Ireland, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
    • The number '2' in American Sign Language.
  • Two Fingers

Two Fingers is the musical alter-ego of electronic musician Amon Tobin. The first Two Fingers album was a collaboration with fellow electronic producer Doubleclick. The eponymous release came out in 2009 on Paper Bag Records in North America and Big Dada in the United Kingdom. The second album, Stunt Rhythms, was a solo effort by Amon Tobin and was designed by Inventory Studio and released worldwide by Big Dada Recordings in 2012.The two producers, who first met when Tobin was living in Brighton, U.K., got together in Montreal in 2007 over a series of tracks that were partially an extension of their previous collaborations — exemplified by the dense, pummeling 2003 track "Ownage" — but in general a fundamentally new and dynamic direction incorporating visceral elements of dancehall, dubstep, and grime. Following the singles "That Girl" and "What You Know," the group's self-titled debut was released in spring 2009, featuring vocals from dancehall star Ce'Cile, one-time Missy Elliott protégé Ms. Jade, and, on seven of the album's 12 tracks, the charismatic, long-up-and-coming British rapper Sway. ~ K. Ross Hoffman, Rovi.

    Two Fingers (song)

"Two Fingers" is a song by British singer songwriter Jake Bugg. It was released as the fifth single from his self-titled debut album (2012). It was released as a digital download in the United Kingdom on 7 September 2012. The song has peaked to number 28 on the UK Singles Chart. The song premiered on BBC Radio 1 as Zane Lowe's 'Hottest Record In The World' on 3 September 2012.

    Music video

A music video to accompany the release of "Two Fingers" was first released onto YouTube on 23 September 2012 at a total length of three minutes and forty-four seconds. The video was directed by Jamie Thraves.
