Jump! (TV series)

Jump! (跳浪) is a Singaporean Chinese drama which aired on MediaCorp Channel U in May 2012. It was aired on weekdays in the 10pm time slot. The series features Taiwan-based Singaporean singer Wong Jing Lun in his acting debut.

Plot

Xiao Chunli is a Chinese teacher at Blue Sky Secondary School, neighbourhood school notorious for its rock-bottom results and delinquency. Her efforts to help her students are hampered by Mr Yan, the school principal who cares more about KPIs than the students themselves. One of the teachers Xu Dele is a master with the skipping rope and he begins recruiting students to participate in a double dutch competition. Much to Miss Xiao and Mr Xu's frustration, several of the more problematic students or those rejected by other CCAs are "dumped" into the team.

Mr Xu and his students embark on a quest to win a medal at the competition. The students learn some valuable lessons about life and teamwork along the way.

Jump! (film)

Jump! is a 2008 British-Austrian drama film written and directed by Joshua Sinclair. It starred Ben Silverstone, Patrick Swayze and Martine McCutcheon. It was loosely based on the real-life Halsman murder case. The film was premiered on the 2009 Jewish Film Festival in June 2009. Swayze was unable to attend due to pancreatic cancer.

Synopsis

Set in Austria, in 1928, with the spectre of Nazism on the rise, a young Jew, Philippe Halsman, is accused of patricide after his father's death during a hike through the Alps. His strained relationship with his father, and the apparent evidence that he has been struck on the head with a rock, point towards the son's guilt. Halsman is put on trial, in Innsbruck, where his case is taken up by one of the country's leading lawyers.

Plot

The plot revolves around Greta Feeney (Burley), who intends to commit suicide on New Year's Eve, and the interplay of her friends, and her gangster father. The story is framed by a voice-over narrative by Greta.

Tsunami (Southern All Stars song)

"Tsunami" is a song by the Southern All Stars, released as their forty-fourth single on January 26, 2000.

Overview

The song was the first number-one single for Southern All Stars since the 1996 single Ai no Kotodama on the Oricon weekly charts. The band used the style of hard rock on the previous single "Yellow Man," which was released in March 1999. However, it only managed to reach the number-ten position on Oricon charts. Therefore, they returned to Japanese pop. The song sold over 654,000 copies in the first week and debuted at number-one, beating out Morning Musume's "Koi no Dance Site" on the Oricon weekly charts. The song once spent two weeks at the number-one position, lost one week to B'z's "Kon'ya Tsuki no Mieru Oka ni", and reached the number-one position again for three weeks. It sold over 2.9 million copies and became the best selling single for the band. In June 2005, it became the third best-selling single on the Oricon chart, surpassing the sales of "Dango 3 Kyodai".

Tsunami (band)

Tsunami was an American indie rock band from Arlington, Virginia, formed by housemates Jenny Toomey and Kristin Thomson in late 1990 to play at New Year's party. They enlisted former housemate John Pamer to play drums and Andrew Webster from Bricks and Jenny's previous band Geek to complete the line up.

Early days

Following their inception, Tsunami split their time between touring, recording various 7" singles and devoting time to Toomey & Thomson's Simple Machines record label- from which Tsunami would release the majority of their own music. The band recorded their debut album, Deep End during the summer of 1992. However, due to manufacturing and mixing problems this was not released until early 1993. It was then that the band were invited to play the side stage at Lollapalooza, going on to play six shows with Sebadoh, Free Kitten and Thurston Moore. After the release of the band's second album The Heart's Tremolo, Tsunami completed two tours of the US, a tour of England, and an appearance at the Phoenix Festival on the Melody Maker Stage.
In 1995, Tsunami continued to tour the States and also managed to release their third album World Tour and Other Destinations. The band subsequently had an official one year hiatus whilst John attended UMASS Amherst to complete his undergraduate degree.
