Try Me! is the second studio album by James Brown and The Famous Flames. It is a collection of singles, B-sides, and outtakes from their first album, Please Please Please. It was reissued by King Records in 1964 under the title The Unbeatable James Brown: 16 Hits.

Try Me (Jason Derulo song)

"Try Me" is a song by American recording artist Jason Derulo featuring American singer Jennifer Lopez and Norwegian DJ Matoma, who also produced the song. It was released as the third single from his fourth studio album, Everything Is 4 (2015). The single was released on October 20, 2015.

Background

Derulo told Capital FM that he was in the studio working on some material for Lopez’s next album, when Lopez suggested they work on something for his album, as it was coming out sooner.

Composition

The song is a pop ballad which contains breezy, tropical, and balearic beats. According to Newsday's Glenn Gomboa, the song is a "mix of an old-school pop duet and of-the-moment, Latin-tinged production". Dan Weiss of Spin described it as "the Afro-futurist 'Sexual Healing' ". Jeff Benjamin of Fuse found the melody was reminiscent of Nick Jonas's "Jealous". Thematically, Derulo said the song is "about the prospect of meeting somebody new. You might be the person I’ve been looking for. Try me."

Aër

The Aër (Greek: Ἀήρ, lit. the "air"; modern Greek: Αέρας; Slavonic: Воздýхъ, Vozdúkh) is the largest and outermost of the veils covering the Chalice and Diskos (paten) in the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Eastern Catholic Churches which follow the Byzantine Rite. It is rectangular in shape and corresponds to the veil used to cover the chalice and paten in the Latin Rite, but is larger. It is often made of the same material and color as the vestments of the officiating priest, and often has a fringe going all the way around its edge. Tassels may also be sewn at each of the corners.

It takes its name either from the lightness of the material of which it is made, or from the fact that during the Nicene Creed in the Divine Liturgy, the priest holds it high in the air and waves it slowly over the Chalice and Diskos. Its original use was to cover the Chalice and prevent anything from falling into it before the consecration. It symbolizes the swaddling clothes with which Christ was wrapped at his Nativity, and also the grave clothes in which he was wrapped at his burial (both themes are found in the text of the Liturgy of Preparation).

Artists and repertoire (A&R) is the division of a record label or music publishing company that is responsible for talent scouting and overseeing the artistic development of recording artists and songwriters. It also acts as a liaison between artists and the record label or publishing company; every activity involving artists to the point of album release is generally considered under the purview, and responsibility, of A&R.

Finding talent

The A&R division of a record label is responsible for finding new recording artists and bringing those artists to the record company. Personnel in the A&R division are expected to understand the current tastes of the market and to be able to find artists that will be commercially successful. For this reason, A&R people are often young and many are musicians, music journalists or record producers.

An A&R executive is authorized to offer a record contract, often in the form of a "deal memo": a short informal document that establishes a business relationship between the recording artist and the record company. The actual contract negotiations will typically be carried out by rival entertainment lawyers hired by the musician's manager and the record company.
