Trust no one (internet security)

Trust no one or TNO, is an approach towards internet and software security issues. In all internet communication and software packages where some sort of secrecy is needed, usually some sort of encryption is applied. The Trust No One approach teaches that no one (but yourself) should be trusted when it comes to the storage of the keys behind the applied encryption technology.

Many encryption technologies rely on the trust of an external party. For instance the security of secure end-to-end SSL connections relies on the trust of a certificate authority (CA).

The Trust No One design philosophy requires that the keys for encryption should always be, and stay, in the hands of the user that applies them. This implies that no external party can access the encrypted data (assumed that the encryption is strong enough). It also implies that an external party cannot provide a backup mechanism for password recovery.

Although the philosophy of Trust No One at least assures the reliability of the communication of the user that creates it, in real life and in society many communication means rely on a trust relationship between at least two parties.

DevilDriver

DevilDriver is an American heavy metal band from Santa Barbara, California, formed in 2002, consisting of vocalist Dez Fafara (the only remaining original member), guitarists Mike Spreitzer and Neal Tiemann, bassist Chris Towning and drummer Austin D'Amond. The band was originally named Deathride, however, due to copyright issues and the name being taken by several bands, Deathride changed its name to DevilDriver, which refers to bells Italian Wiccans used to drive evil forces away.

Biography

Dez Fafara moved to Santa Barbara Fafara hosted several barbecues after moving from Orange County to Santa Barbara and would jam with musicians he met, which led to the formation of the band. "I met Evan we struck up a friendship and started jamming," said Fafara Guitarist Evan Pitts met Fafara in a restaurant and gave him his phone number for a jam session, while John Boecklin who originally played 2nd guitar then went to playing drums, met Fafara at a bar.

The band was originally known as Deathride, but later changed their name to DevilDriver because Fafara felt there were too many bands with that name; a band in Norfolk, Virginia, and a bicycle racing team. Another problem was that the band's label, Roadrunner Records were unable to secure copyright. The members compiled a list of roughly two hundred names to go for a more original approach. Fafara's wife had a book by Italian witchcraft author Raven Grimassi on Stregheria, and came across the term "devil driver". The term "devil driver" refers to bells Italian witches used to drive evil forces away. Fafara thought it was appropriate because it sounded "evil", and thought the term "suits his life". The band's logo is the Cross of Confusion, which has existed for thousands of years and refers to "question religion, question authority, question everything around you". Fafara was brought up to "question everything" and was exposed to Italian witchcraft through his grandparents.

Joe Beagle

Joe Beagle, also known as singer-songwriter Joey Parratt, is an award-winning songwriter with various TV, radio and live performances to his name. He was founder member of The Flying Brix, No-one, Champion the Underdog, The (original) Beagles, Awful Racket, Cute Baby Monster and My Mate's Band all of which played almost exclusively his own original songs.

In 1979, as founder member of The Flying Brix, along with John Ashton, David Bradbury, Mark Hamilton, Gary Taylor and his brother Andy Barratt, he recorded, produced and released "Black Colours" a limited edition 7 inch 33 rpm vinyl DIY EP with 9 original songs, distributed by Rough Trade Records and played by John Peel (of BBC, Radio One). One of the songs, "Uniform (I Don't Wanna Be Different)", was later featured on a compilation CD commemorating the era, MESSTHETICS #104 CD: 'D.I.Y.' and indie postpunk from the South Wales and the Z-Block scene: 1977-1981 (part 1).

Rowlands replaced Hamilton and then the band split in 1981 and Rowlands, Ashton, Bradbury and Taylor went on to form 'Fourplay'. Joe stayed with the name of The Flying Brix.

"No One" is a song recorded by Dutch Eurodance band 2 Unlimited.

Release and reception

"No one" was released as the second single from 2 Unlimited's third album, Real Things.

The release scored chart success in many European countries peaking at #2 in the Netherlands and #3 in Belgium. It was the least successful release to date in the UK hitting #17, but received the more airplay than previous hits from national station BBC Radio 1 due to the change in direction to a much lighter, breezier pop-reggae style.

The melody of this song was also sampled in 1996 single by Serbian group Moby Dick with name "Kralj kokaina" ("King of Cocaine").
