Troed-y-rhiw
Troed-y-rhiw (translation: foot of the hill) is a village in the Welsh county borough of Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, South Wales. The population of this community at the 2011 census was 5,296.
The village is served by Troed-y-rhiw railway station.

Community Archives Wales
In 2007 the Troedyrhiw Environment Forum joined the Community Archives Wales programme. The Environment Forum is a part of the Troedyrhiw Community Partnership which has approximately 30 registered members who attend all kinds of different forums including a Residents Association, Scouts Group and Old Age Persons Group.
The Environment Forum is extremely active in engaging with all parts of the community and involving members in a range of community projects, such as the Trevithick Heritage Trail, completed recently with the assistance of Cyfarthfa Castle and Museum. The Community Archives Wales project will be an inter-generational one, as the older residents of the Environment Forum intend to work with the local Scouts Group to research the local history of Troedyrhiw, which will include the history of the Scouts, who, this year, are celebrating their centenary. The group has a keen interest in history and sharing their stories, and fully intend to involve all members of the community in the CAW project.
Troed y Rhiw
Coordinates: 52°09′N 4°11′W / 52.15°N 4.19°W / 52.15; -4.19
Troed y Rhiw (foot of the hill in English) is a hamlet in Ceredigion approximately midway between Cribyn and Dihewyd in the rolling agricultural land between Lampeter and Aberaeron. It lies between the land-holdings of Pont Marchog farm and Pen Bryn farm
In the 19th century it boasted a chapel, a shop and post office and a pub together with several cottages scattered around the road junction on which the hamlet sits. During the early 20th century the Pub disappeared and is only marked by its ruins in a small copse. The shop and post-office were lost in the early 1970s which probably marked the time of least population . Subsequent to that new development behind the old shop and on the field below Pen Bryn Farm has substantially increased the size of the settlement.
The elegant early 19th century chapel remains in occasional use.
