Trinity School (New York City)

Trinity School is an independent, preparatory, co-educational day school for grades K-12 located in New York City, USA, and a member of both the New York Interschool and the Ivy Preparatory School League. Founded in 1709 in the old Trinity Church at Broadway and Wall Street, the school is the fifth oldest in the United States and the oldest continually operational school in New York City.

In April 2010, Forbes Magazine named Trinity the best college preparatory school in the United States.

History

Trinity School was founded by William Huddleston, working under the aegis of the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts, in 1709 as a charity school for Trinity Church. Originally open to both boys and girls, classes were held in Trinity Church in lower Manhattan, but in 1749, Trinity moved into its own building across the street. The building burned down two months later and had to be rebuilt. Columbia University, then King's College, was founded in that building's first floor. Trinity traditionally educated its students for Columbia given their close ties.

Trinity School (Menlo Park)

Trinity School is a coeducational, preschool through grade 5 day school located in Menlo Park, California. It is an Episcopalian school which is sponsored by St. Bede's Church and Trinity Church in Menlo Park.

Trinity School is one school with two campus locations. The Upper Campus, at 2650 Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park, includes seven large classrooms, on-site chapel, and a Great Hall as well as a state-of-the-art library with over 13,000 volumes. Technology is integrated into the library and every classroom with 80 computers and campus-wide Internet access. All of this is set in a beautiful small school environment with a series of outdoor learning and display spaces, including a greenhouse and garden, indigenous planting, an outdoor stage with seating for all students, a grass athletic field, two ball courts, a lunch terrace, and other creative outdoor spaces.

In 2005, the Lower Campus moved into a beautiful newly constructed facility at 330 Ravenswood Avenue, Menlo Park. The new building features two classrooms designed specifically for three- and four-year-olds, a dedicated art studio, and an enclosed playground adjacent to the building.
