Clash!

Clash! is an American comedy game show which aired on Ha! from May 1, 1990 to March 31, 1991 and on Comedy Central from April 1 to December 28. The show was produced and hosted by Billy Kimball, and the theme song was composed by Carter Burwell.

Episodes were broadcast weekdays at 10:30 AM and 6:30 PM.

Format

Clash! was presented in an absurdist quiz show format in which two teams of three players each competed for prizes. Contestants were selected based on criteria such as occupation, ethnicity, religion, etc. and each team would represent one half of a rivalry. For example, an episode might pit nudists against fashion designers, librarians against noisy people, or vegetarians against butchers. Some rivalries were altered for comedic effect, such as "Cowboys vs. Indians" in which the Indians were people from India.

The final round consisted of one contestant spinning a wheel and answering a single question. Depending on where the wheel stopped, the question could be extremely difficult ("What is the third word on the thirty-third page of the third book from the right on the third shelf of the third cabinet from the left in the Clash library?") or extremely easy ("What did you have for breakfast this morning?" or "How are you?").

Clash (film)

Clash (Vietnamese: Bẫy Rồng) is a 2009 Vietnamese martial arts/action film directed by Le Thanh Son and starring Johnny Tri Nguyen and actress/singer Ngo Thanh Van. Johnny Tri Nguyen and Ngo Thanh Van had recently appeared together in the 2007 film The Rebel.

Plot

Trinh codename Phoenix (Ngo Thanh Van), a female mob enforcer, must complete a series of organized crime jobs for her boss Hac Long (Hoang Phuc Nguyen) in order to win the release of her kidnapped daughter. She hires several mercenaries to help, including Quan dubbed Tiger (Johnny Tri Nguyen), who she becomes attracted to. Trinh and Quan's relationship becomes complicated as it becomes evident that their motivations are not the same.

The Christian doctrine of the Trinity (from Latin trinitas "triad", from trinus "threefold") defines God as three consubstantial persons, expressions, or hypostases: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit; "one God in three persons". The three persons are distinct, yet are one "substance, essence or nature". In this context, a "nature" is what one is, while a "person" is who one is.

According to this central mystery of some Christian faiths, there is only one God in three persons: while distinct from one another in their relations of origin (as the Fourth Lateran Council declared, "it is the Father who generates, the Son who is begotten, and the Holy Spirit who proceeds") and in their relations with one another, they are stated to be one in all else, co-equal, co-eternal and consubstantial, and "each is God, whole and entire". Accordingly, the whole work of creation and grace is seen as a single operation common to all three divine persons, in which each shows forth what is proper to him in the Trinity, so that all things are "from the Father", "through the Son" and "in the Holy Spirit".

Trinity (electoral district)

Trinity was an electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the Canadian House of Commons, 1935 to 1988. It covered a portion of western Toronto. Its name comes from the Trinity–Bellwoods area that was once home to Trinity College.

History

This district was formed in 1933 from portions of Toronto Northwest, Toronto West Centre, and Toronto South ridings. Its boundaries changed repeatedly over the years; when created, it stretched far north to the edge of the city boundaries. As this northern portion became more populated, it was split off into other ridings. Its eastern and western boundaries were fairly consistent, stretching from Bathurst Street in the east to Atlantic Avenue in the West. In 1987, due to the relative decrease in the population of downtown Toronto compared to other areas, this district was merged with Spadina to form Trinity—Spadina. Some portions also went to the western riding of Davenport.

Trinity River (Texas)

The Trinity River (Alibamu: Pahnichoba) is a 710-mile-long (1,140 km) river that is the longest river that flows entirely within the U.S. state of Texas. It rises in extreme northern Texas, a few miles south of the Red River. The headwaters are separated by the high bluffs on the southern side of the Red River.

Robert Cavelier de La Salle, in 1687, called the stream the "River of Canoes". The name "Trinity" came three years later in 1690 from Alonso De León, who called the stream the "La Santísima Trinidad" ("the Most Holy Trinity").

Course

The Trinity River has four branches: the West Fork, the Clear Fork, the Elm Fork, and the East Fork.

The West Fork Trinity River has its headwaters in Archer County. From there it flows southeast, through the man-made reservoirs Lake Bridgeport and Eagle Mountain Lake then flowing eastward through Lake Worth and then the city of Fort Worth.

The Clear Fork Trinity River begins north of Weatherford, Texas and flows southeastward through Lake Weatherford and Benbrook Lake reservoirs, and then northeastward, where it joins the West Fork near downtown Fort Worth and continues as the West Fork.
