IRA - Polish rock band formed in 1987 in Radom by Jakub Płucisz (guitar), Wojciech Owczarek (drums), Artur Gadowski (vocal, guitar), Dariusz Grudzień (bass) and Grzegorz Wawrzeńczuk (keyboards). They gained a wide popularity in Poland in the early nineties, mainly after releasing the "Mój Dom" album, with the hit title song, which was still during their garage and semi-professional days. They also gained some local popularity amongst the Polish-speaking citizens in the United States, where they lived and worked for few months. After signing a professional contract back in Poland, they released a few albums which didn't prove to be commercially successful (except for the "Mój Dom" follow-up, which was "IRA 1993"), and the band disbanded afterwards. Artur Gadowski started a solo career. He opened for Brian May before his show in Warsaw in September 1998. Artur's solo efforts weren't very successful either, and what success he did gain was largely based on the then legendary status of IRA. A few years later the band reunited, and exists up to now. Once again, they have not attained much popularity, but are well-known amongst hard rock fans in Poland (though they play mainly pop-oriented hard rock), and their concerts are selling rather well.

Trigger is a Serbian hard rock/heavy metal band from Belgrade.

History

The band was formed in 2005. During the same year, the band started working on the songs for their debut album, enetering the studio in 2006. The lineup changed several times during the work on the album, but became stable at the beginning of 2007. It featured female vocalist Milena Branković, guitarist Dušan Svilokos Đurić, bass guitarist Petar "Pera" Popović, keyboardist Marko Antonić, and drummer Zoran Jović "Đavo".

The band's debut album Ljubav (Love) was released in December 2007 through PGP-RTS.Ljubav was imagined as a concept album, featuring lyrics dealing with dark sides of love. The album was met with mostly positive reactions by the critics. The promotional video was recorded for the song "Jedan dan" ("A Day"). "Jedan dan" won the first place on TV Panonija chart, TV Metropolis Top 10 chart, and Radio 202 Hit of the Week chart. During the same year, the band started the concert promotion of the album, starting with the appearance on Belgrade Beer Fest. In 2008, the band was awarded with the Discovery of the Year Award by TV Metropolis, and was polled the Best Young Band of 2008 by the listeners of the Radio 202 show Hit 202.

Trigger (drums)

In drumming, a trigger is an electronic transducer that can be attached to a drum, cymbal or other instrument to enable it to control an electronic drum unit or similar device.

Specialised triggers are produced for specific instruments. A snare drum trigger, for example, needs two channels, one each for the rim and head, while a tom-tom drum trigger needs only to register strokes to the drum head.

Drum triggers gained great attention in the beginning of the 1990s, being extensively used on bass drums in metal music.

The advantage of using drum triggers is that potential problems associated with using microphones can be overcome by triggering pre-recorded samples. It is commonly quoted that less effort is required from the drummer when using drum triggers. Although this may be true in some cases, it is not true in all cases and depends on the individual's set up. The drum module to which the trigger is connected can be adjusted to accommodate a range of volumes, thus preserving the dynamic range of the drummer's playing. Triggers have a greater use in live performances than in studio recordings, since some drummers dislike the processed triggered sound, labelled by some as artificial.
