Triathlon

A triathlon is a multiple-stage competition involving the completion of three continuous and sequential endurance disciplines. While many variations of the sport exist, triathlon, in its most popular form, involves swimming, cycling, and running in immediate succession over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall course completion time, including timed "transitions" between the individual swim, cycle, and run components. The word "triathlon" is of Greek origin from τρεῖς or treis ("three") and ἆθλος or athlos ("sport").

The most recognized branded Ultra Distance is the Ironman triathlon.

A transition area is set up where the athletes change gear for different segments of the race. This is where the switches from swimming to cycling and cycling to running occur. These areas are used to store bicycles, performance apparel, and any other accessories needed for the next stage of the race. The transition from swim and bike is referred to as T1 and that between the bike and run is referred to as T2. The athlete's overall time for the race includes time spent in T1 and T2. Transitions areas vary in size depending on the number of participants expected. In addition, these areas provide a social headquarters before the race.

Triathlon (heat pump)

The York Triathlon was a heat pump system for residential and small business heating and air conditioning introduced circa 1997. Unlike a conventional heat pump or air conditioner where the compressor is driven by an electric motor, the Triathlon was driven by a natural gas fueled 5 horsepower Briggs and Stratton engine. Maintenance requirements included annual changes of the oil and spark plugs on the engine. This equipment is no longer offered.

Although it burned natural gas, it should not be confused with absorption cycle cooling which is a heat-driven technology. The Triathlon units utilized the conventional vapor-compression refrigeration cycle and was unique in its use of an internal combustion engine to drive the compressor.

York is now a unit of Johnson Controls.

    Fictional character biography

    Origin

Delroy Garrett is an Olympic track medalist whose career was derailed when it was found he used steroids. Dejected, Delroy joined the Triune Understanding to restore his faith. Triune leader Jonathan Tremont imbued Delroy with the powers stolen from the former superhero, the 3-D Man. Delroy had no idea of the source of his new powers thinking that the teachings of the Triune had simply unlocked his superhuman potential. Delroy became the costumed superhero, Triathlon, and became the Triune's celebrity spokesman.

    Triathlon

So che un braccio dopo l'altro
    Porterò a destinazione
    Questo corpo calpestato
    Dalle tue rigide mancanze.
Ho attraversato giorni da diluvio universale,
Ora so scivolare sull'acqua...è una questione orizzontale.
    Sembra pronto a decollare.
Hai trasformato pianure in salite devastanti,
Ora tornerò a sognare coi miei occhi scintillanti.
