Trainwreck (band)

Trainwreck was an American rock band, Kyle Gass formed it in 2002 mostly to act as a side-project for Tenacious D when Jack Black was too busy to play concerts. Unlike Tenacious D, Trainwreck wrote more country rock themed music rather than hard rock, the band also played as country characters with character names. The only difference in members between Trainwreck and Tenacious D were that JR Reed played lead singer, replacing Black and Nate Rothacker played as the drummer, replacing Brooks Wackerman. The band rose in popularity since throughout the majority of the Tenacious D movie, Gass wore a yellow Trainwreck T-shirt.

History

Beginnings (2002-2003)

Gass started the rock band Tenacious D along with Jack Black in 1994. Black became very popular in the turn of the new millennium with many film and TV roles which led for Black to not have as much time to spend playing gigs with Gass - so Gass created Trainwreck to keep him musically active when Black was busy. In December 2001, Tenacious D played a concert with Weezer and Jimmy Eat World in Value City Arena, where Kyle Gass befriended Erin Robinson, who described herself as a "huge D fan." In 2002, Gass asked her to recruit musicians for the "Trainwreck sideproject" so she found bassist John Spiker and electric guitarist John Konesky. Gass also rounded up JR Reed as lead vocals, Chris D'Arienzo as keyboard and Kevin Weisman as drums. Trainwreck played their first concert at Highland Grounds in Los Angeles on the 2nd of August 2002. The band would then go on to play many Los Angeles and Ohio club shows. They would then in 2003 go onto having their first ever full-on US tour where they played the likes of New York, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Chicago and Atlanta to name a few. This tour was called the Pacific Rimjob tour.

+/- (band)

+/-, or Plus/Minus, is an American indietronic band formed in 2001. The band makes use of both electronic and traditional instruments, and has sought to use electronics to recreate traditional indie rock song forms and instrumental structures. The group has released two albums on each of the American indie labels Teenbeat Records and Absolutely Kosher, and their track "All I do" was prominently featured in the soundtrack for the major film Wicker Park. The group has developed a devoted following in Japan and Taiwan, and has toured there frequently. Although many artists append bonus tracks onto the end of Japanese album releases to discourage purchasers from buying cheaper US import versions, the overseas versions of +/- albums are usually quite different from the US versions - tracklists can be rearranged, artwork with noticeable changes is used, and tracks from the US version can be replaced as well as augmented by bonus tracks.

Train wreck

A train wreck or train crash is a type of disaster involving one or more trains. Train wrecks often occur as a result of miscommunication, as when a moving train meets another train on the same track; or an accident, such as when a train wheel jumps off a track in a derailment; or when a boiler explosion occurs. Train wrecks have often been widely covered in popular media and in folklore.

A head-on collision between two trains is colloquially called a "cornfield meet" in the US.

Legal consequences

Because train wrecks usually cause widespread property damage as well as injury or death, the intentional wrecking of a train in regular service is often treated as an extremely serious crime.

For example, in the U.S. state of California, the penalty for intentionally causing a non-fatal train wreck is life imprisonment with the possibility of parole. For a fatal train wreck, the possible legal consequences are either life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, or even the death penalty. The willful wrecking of a train is punishable by death or life imprisonment without parole by the United States federal government.

Radiosurgery (album)

Radiosurgery is the seventh studio album by American rock band New Found Glory. It was first released on September 30, 2011 in Australia, before its wider release on October 4 through independent label Epitaph Records. It is the band's final studio album to feature founding guitarist Steve Klein. To follow up predecessor Not Without a Fight (2009), the band began writing new material during their stint on the 2010 Honda Civic Tour. After self-producing a set of demos and contacting long-term record producer Neal Avron, the band went on to record the album in Avron's home recording studio over a period of three months in 2011. The quintet set out to write an album that paid homage to classic punk rock records that first inspired them to form a band during the 1990s. Listening extensively to the likes of early Green Day and Ramones, New Found Glory strove to create a sound that could "bridge the gap" between old and new generations of the genre.

The album title is a reference to the actual medical procedure radiosurgery, with the lyrics directly influenced by a troubled divorce suffered within the band. Radiosurgery was written as a concept album about the different emotions an individual goes through after a separation, including feelings of regret, sadness, and insanity. The band looked up several brain surgeries, settling on Radiosurgery, using the idea that instead of using the procedure to remove a tumor from the brain, it could remove memories.
