A train ride in an amusement park, or a municipal park setting, is a small ride consisting of a miniature train, often running on a permanent or portable track, but sometimes without any track whatsoever. In the latter case, the "trains" are simulated by connecting railroad-like cars behind an ordinary, or modified motor vehicle. This type of ride is often conducted as a sightseeing tour of the surroundings.
If the ride is on tracks, and especially if the service is provided by a non-commercial hobbyist club, or a private backyard railroad, the train can be an exact scale model, often with a live steam locomotive.
Commercial "kiddie rides" often use simple but colorful equipment, with the driving mechanism hidden under vacuum formed plastic covers.
Some train rides (e.g. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad) resemble roller coasters, and may not be available to children under a certain age or a minimum height.

Train Ride is an award-winning, critically acclaimed feature thriller film written and directed by Rel Dowdell, which was released in 2000 by RuffNation Films via Sony Entertainment. It revolves around the consequences of an incident of date rape on a college campus in Philadelphia, and stars Wood Harris, MC Lyte, Russell Hornsby, Thomas Braxton Jr., Guru, Joe Clair, KaDee Strickland, and Emmy Award–winning actress Esther Rolle. The film was shot in 1998, though financing problems derailed the post-production process. Philadelphia company RuffNation Films supervised and funded the films completion. It debuted theatrically in Philadelphia in 2005 to positive reviews and a DVD release followed.
Train Ride was Esther Rolle's last project before her death on November 17, 1998, and the film is dedicated to her.
Train Ride was shot on the campus of Cheyney University, which is the oldest African American college in the United States.
The film recently got high praise by noted film historian/critic Irv Slifkin in his best-selling book Filmadelphia: A Celebration of a City's Movies, which was published by Middle Atlantic Press in 2006.
Angela Morley (born Walter "Wally" Stott, 10 March 1924 – 14 January 2009) was an English composer and conductor. She attributed her entry into composing and arranging largely to the influence and encouragement of the Canadian light music composer Robert Farnon. In 1972, Morley underwent sex reassignment surgery. Later in life, she lived in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Morley won two Emmy Awards for her work in music arrangement. These were in the category of Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction, in 1988 and 1990, both for television specials starring Julie Andrews. Morley received Emmy nominations for composing music for television series such as Dynasty and Dallas. She was twice nominated for an Academy Award in the category of Best Music, Original Song Score/Adaptation: for The Little Prince (1974), a nomination shared with Alan Jay Lerner, Frederick Loewe, and Douglas Gamley; and for The Slipper and the Rose, which Morley shared with Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. She was the first openly transgender person to be nominated for an Academy Award.
I think I'm falling out of favor
As you're waving goodbye
I'd like to see your timetable
I'm at the end of my line
I like the way your tracks lay down
You keep your engine clean
You've got a cozy little station
It's the nicest one I've seen
I'm gonna roll on
I'm gonna take you on a train ride
Heading down the tracks
On a red eye line
I'm on a train ride
Open up your station 'cause
I'm coming inside
There's a little bit of danger
If we go to fast
I'd like to be your Clark Gable
Do you want to join the cast
I've got to catch the last 'A' train
It's the only one I know
Hook up your little red caboose baby
We've got a lot of stops to do
I'm on a train ride
Heading down the tracks
On a red eye line
I'm on a train ride
Open up your station 'cause
I'm coming inside
(Repeat)
Just a little bit further, for a couple of miles
If you let me be your railman
I'll make it worth your while
You've got a really tight schedule
I've got a heavy load
And if you pull the right switch honey
You'll make my whistle blow
I'm gonna roll on
(Chorus Twice)
I'm on a train ride, train ride, train ride
Gonna ride tonight
I'm on a train ride, train ride, train ride
On the line tonight
I'm on a train ride, train ride, train ride
I'm alive tonight
