Tracy Byrd

Tracy Lynn Byrd (born December 17, 1966) is an American country music artist. Signed to MCA Nashville Records in 1993, Byrd broke through on the country music scene that year with his single "Holdin' Heaven", which reached Number One on Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks. Although he did not land a second Number One until 2002's "Ten Rounds with Jose Cuervo", Byrd has charted more than thirty hit singles in his career, including eleven additional Top Ten hits. He has also released nine studio albums and two greatest-hits albums, with four gold certifications and one double-platinum certification from the RIAA.

Biography

Tracy Byrd is the eldest child of Jerry Lynn and Brenda Vaughn Byrd. Tracy Byrd graduated from Vidor High School in May 1985. His first college experience was at Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas. He began studying business at Texas State University (then called Southwest Texas State). While studying he sang with a local band in Beaumont, TX called Rimfire led by Jeffrey Adams and Dave Adams, a band that also featured acts such as Mark Chesnutt.

Tracy Byrd (born August 27, 1964, Flint, Michigan) is an American female boxer.

Early life

Byrd comes from a boxing family: her father, Joe Byrd, is a former boxer who currently trains her.

Her brother Antoine once lost to Roy Jones Jr. in a bid to win the world's Middleweight title, and her other brother, Chris, is a former heavyweight title holder.

Tracy Byrd enjoyed athletics since she was a young child. She excelled in high school as a basketball player. Her brothers Antoine and Chris, however, inspired her into trying out boxing, so she began to attend the Byrd boxing gym, owned by her father.

Professional career

On her first professional fight, August 6, 1996, the then 32-year-old boxer beat Sue Chase by a decision in four rounds in Flint. Her first three fights were held in Flint, and she earned first round knockouts in professional fights number two and three.

Her fourth fight, a rematch with Chase on January 28, 1997, took place just outside Flint, in Detroit. Byrd again outpointed Chase over four rounds.

Love Lessons (novel)

Love Lessons is a British children's novel by Jacqueline Wilson, first published by Doubleday in 2005. It is illustrated by Nick Sharratt, although the only illustrations in this book are the chapter-headings.

Some of the characters in Love Lessons are similar to those in one of the author's previous books, Waiting for the Sky to Fall (1983). The title of the novel is identical to David Belbin's earlier Love Lessons (1998) which is about a sexual affair between a pupil and teacher, but Wilson's book is far more soft-centred.

Plot summary

The story revolves around a girl called Prudence "Prue" King who lives with her bossy, often scary dad who loses his temper very easily, a sweet yet pressured mother and an immature but kindhearted younger sister, Grace. Her dad is very temperamental and he gets mad on silly things like art classes for Prue and he thinks going to school is an absurd idea. He insists on educating Prue and Grace himself while running a not so successful book shop. One day a man called Mr Miles from the education system comes and tells Prue's father that Prue will have to go to school so she can get her GCSEs. After much grumbling her father reluctantly decides to send her to Maths tuition but not to school. After the class, Prue gives up and skives from her classes, while spending £60.00 in the process on chocolate which she later shares with Grace, magazines, food from McDonald's (which as it is, is forbidden food in the King family), art materials and some expensive lingerie. Prue's father finds out and gets so worked up about it that he has a stroke and has to leave for the hospital immediately. After much thinking over, the girls’ mother decides to send them to the nearest public school, Wentworth High, while still keeping it a secret from their sick father.

Love Lessons (album)

Love Lessons is the third studio album from American neotraditionalist country artist Tracy Byrd. It produced the singles "Love Lessons," "Walking to Jerusalem," "4 to 1 in Atlanta," and "Heaven in My Woman's Eyes," all of which charted on the Billboard country music charts between 1995 and 1996. The title track was the only single of these four to reach Top Ten on that chart.

Tracy Byrd is the self-titled debut album of American country music artist Tracy Byrd. In order of release, the singles from this album were "That's the Thing About a Memory", "Someone to Give My Love To" (a cover of Johnny Paycheck's song), "Holdin' Heaven", and "Why Don't That Telephone Ring". "Holdin' Heaven" reached Number One on the Hot Country Songs charts in 1993.

"An Out of Control Raging Fire" would later be recorded by Patty Loveless (as a duet with Travis Tritt) on Loveless's Mountain Soul album.
