Bill Maher
William "Bill" Maher (/ˈmɑːr/; born January 20, 1956) is an American comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actor, media critic, and television host. As a television host, he is well known for the HBO political talk show Real Time with Bill Maher (2003–present). Maher previously hosted a similar late-night show called Politically Incorrect, originally on Comedy Central and later on ABC.
Maher is known for his sarcastic attitude,political satire and sociopolitical commentary. He targets many topics including religion, politics, bureaucracies, political correctness, and the mass media.
Maher supports the legalization of cannabis and same-sex marriage. His critical views of religion were the basis for the 2008 documentary film Religulous. He is a supporter of animal rights, having served on the board of PETA since 1997, and is an advisory board member of Project Reason. In 2005, Maher ranked at number 38 on Comedy Central's 100 greatest stand-up comedians of all time. He received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star on September 14, 2010.

Bill Maher (rower)
William "Bill" Patrick Maher (born June 25, 1946) is an American rower who competed in the 1968 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal in the men's double sculls. In 1969, he rowed for the Vesper Boat Club.
He was born in Detroit. In 1965, rowing for the Detroit Boat Club, he beat Donald Spero the best American single sculler in the National Rowing Championships. In 1967 he won the single again at the National Rowing Championships. In 1968 he won the bronze medal with his partner John Nunn in the double sculls event. In 1969, now rowing for the US Army at Vesper Boat Club, he won the single yet again, and then represented the US at the European Championships at Klagenfurt, Austria. Also at the US Nationals in 1969, he stroked the winning Vesper Quad, teaming with Paul Wilson, Bob Arlett, and Bob Montgomery.

Bill Maher (athletic director)
Bill Maher is the current director of athletics for Canisius College. He previously served as interim athletics director of the University at Buffalo from 2003 to 2005. Maher played football at Canisius from 1985–1989, graduating in 1989 with a degree in physical education.
