Toulouse FC

Toulouse Football Club, also known simply as Toulouse (familiarly as TFC), is a French association football club based in the city of Toulouse. The club was founded in 1970 and currently plays in Ligue 1, the top level of French football. Toulouse plays its home matches at the Stadium Municipal located within the city. The first team is managed by former club player Dominique Arribage and captained by midfielder Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro.

Les Pitchouns have won 3 Ligue 2 and 1 Coupe de France. Toulouse have participated in European competition five times. In 2008, the club, among celebratory fanfare, qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in its history and, in the following season, played in the inaugural edition of the UEFA Europa League.

Toulouse is presided over by the French businessman Olivier Sadran, who took over the club following its bankruptcy in 2001 which resulted in it being relegated to the Championnat National. The club has served as a springboard for several players, most notably the World Cup-winning goalkeeper Fabien Barthez and international striker André-Pierre Gignac.

Toulouse FC (women)

Toulouse FC Féminines is a French football representing Toulouse FC. It currently competes in the French Second Division. Founded in 1980 as Toulouse OAC, the team became a section of Toulouse FC in 2001, at its peak.

Toulouse OAC settled in the top positions of the French First Division in the second half of the 90s and soon became a powerhouse, winning four championships in a row between 1999 and 2002. It was the first team to achieve this since the league's unification in 1992. The latter was their most successful season, as they also won the national Cup and reached the semifinals of the UEFA Women's Cup after topping its group and beating Arsenal FC. The following year Toulouse was defeated by eventual champions Umeå IK in the quarterfinals.

However, Toulouse gradually declined in the following years and was relegated in 2011. As of the end of the year Toulouse tops the category's Group C.

Toulouse FC (1937)

Toulouse Football Club was a French association football team playing in the city of Toulouse, Haute-Garonne. The team was founded in 1937 and disappeared in 1967, in a merger with Red Star Olympique. Even though this team held the same name as Toulouse's current main club (Toulouse FC), the two teams are not to be confused. They are not a continuation of each other.

History

Toulouse Football Club was founded on 20 March 1937 and began in Ligue 2. The club finished second in the South Group of 1945–46 Ligue 2 season and were promoted to Ligue 1 almost a decade after its foundation. Toulouse finished in 14th position in its first campaign in the top tier of French football. Following four mid-table finishes, TFC claimed fourth spot in 1949–50 Ligue 1 season, the club's then highest position. However the club suffered a major downturn the following season when they finished 17th, being relegated to Ligue 2 in 1951. However, Le Téfécé were to win their first title by claiming the Ligue 2 in 1953, being promoted to the top-flight. This success was followed by the club's Coupe de France triumph in 1957. It was TFC's first and last major honour. Toulouse coped with this lack of title success by assuring themselves as a Ligue 1 mainstay, regularly finishing in the top half of the table after their return to the top flight (including a 2nd spot in 1955, the club's best finish ever).

Its world-renowned university is one of the oldest in Europe (founded in 1229) and, with more than 103,000 students, is the fourth-largest university campus of France after Paris, Lyon and Lille.

"Toulouse" is a song by Dutch DJ and music producer Nicky Romero. It was released as a single on 19 December 2011 in the Netherlands and 2 January 2012 in the United States through Spinnin' Records. A music video for the song was uploaded to YouTube on 9 May 2012.

The music video for the song, lasting four minutes and twenty seconds, was unofficially uploaded on 9 May 2012 to YouTube. It was directed by Timo Pierre Rositzki and has garnered over 280 million views. Throughout the video, several people can be seen wearing Guy Fawkes masks. Despite the fact that the song was named "Toulouse", the music video was filmed in Hamburg, Germany.
