Torment (band)

Torment is a Peruvian Black Metal band formed in 2004 by Satanael (guitar and voice) and Raksaza (drums). They are renowned for introducing Noise Music into Black Metal in their early albums. This admixture was rejected by some Metal purists. This band is also infamous for the drummer's involvement in some National Socialist Black Metal bands even when the musician’s real ideologies are not yet clear.

The band self-released their first demo "Black Holocaust" in 2004. After this they signed with the Peruvian Sad Spirit Productions for the release of the "Pale Proud Slaughter" demo in 2005 and the "Satanic Black Terror" EP in 2006. In 2007 the Chinese label Funeral Moonlight Productions edited a compilation album entitled "Black Terrorism" containing all their previous releases. And in the year of 2008 the Canadian label Funeral Rain Records produced the band's first full length called "Hircus Emissarius".

There’s also bootleg called "Blasphemous Pride" circulating among the band’s fan base and containing an early rehearsal back from 2004 and a live show in Callao (Peru) dated 17 June 2006. This recordings were never formally released by the band, therefore this bootleg is not listed in their official discography.

+/- (band)

+/-, or Plus/Minus, is an American indietronic band formed in 2001. The band makes use of both electronic and traditional instruments, and has sought to use electronics to recreate traditional indie rock song forms and instrumental structures. The group has released two albums on each of the American indie labels Teenbeat Records and Absolutely Kosher, and their track "All I do" was prominently featured in the soundtrack for the major film Wicker Park. The group has developed a devoted following in Japan and Taiwan, and has toured there frequently. Although many artists append bonus tracks onto the end of Japanese album releases to discourage purchasers from buying cheaper US import versions, the overseas versions of +/- albums are usually quite different from the US versions - tracklists can be rearranged, artwork with noticeable changes is used, and tracks from the US version can be replaced as well as augmented by bonus tracks.

!!! is a dance-punk band that formed in Sacramento, California, in 1996 by lead singer Nic Offer. Its name is most commonly pronounced "Chk Chk Chk" ([/tʃk.tʃk.tʃk/]). Members of !!! came from other local bands such as The Yah Mos, Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. They are currently based in New York City, Sacramento, and Portland, Oregon. The band's sixth full-length album, As If, was released in October 2015.

Background and history

!!! is an American band formed in the summer of 1995 by the merger of part of the group Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. After a successful joint tour, these two teams decided to mix the disco-funk with more aggressive sounds and integrate the hardcore singer Nic Offer from the The Yah Mos. The band's name was inspired by the subtitles of the movie The Gods Must Be Crazy, in which the clicking sounds of the Bushmens' Khoisan language were represented as "!". However, as the bandmembers themselves say, !!! is pronounced by repeating thrice any monosyllabic sound. "Chk Chk Chk" is the most common pronunciation, which the URL of their official website and the title of their Myspace page suggest is the preferred pronunciation.

The Odyssey is a Magic: The Gathering expert-level block. It consists of a trio of expansion sets: Odyssey (September, 2001), Torment (February, 2002) and Judgment (May, 2002).

Storyline

Odyssey

The storyline of Odyssey leaps forward 100 years after the events in the set Apocalypse on the remote continent Otaria. Odyssey 's protagonist is Kamahl, a formidable fighter-mage skilled in both throwing fireballs and melee combat. Kamahl has a close friend Chainer, a cabalist, and a cool-headed sister Jeska. The antagonist is Laquatus, a sly merfolk who uses trickery and mind control to bend others to his will. Other characters include the cephalid emperor Aboshan, Kamahl's centaur friend Seton, Kamahl and Jeska's dwarven trainer Balthor, the militaristic Kirtar, the mellow but dangerous Cabal Patriarch (The First), and the unpredictable sociopath Braids. Almost everyone in the story is after the Mirari, a legendary artifact of immense power with the ability to make its wielder's innermost wishes come true. The Mirari is relatively small, resembling a metallic ball mounted on a wiry helix. The Mirari notoriously drives its wielder insane, often causing death and massive destruction, wherein it awaits a new master.

Torment and Toreros

Torment and Toreros is the second album to be released by Marc and the Mambas, the album reached #28 in the UK album charts in August 1983. It also is the last album to go under the name "Marc and the Mambas". The next album Almond issued was credited to Raoul And The Ruined, the album, Bite Black and Blues is a live album and was initially only available via the Marc Almond fan club.

Torment (novel)

Torment is a 2010 young adult fantasy novel from the Fallen series written by Lauren Kate. Torment, the sequel to Fallen, continues the story of Lucinda "Luce" Price, a 17-year-old girl who is in love with Daniel, a fallen angel. In Fallen, Daniel reveals to Luce that their love is damned: she is condemned to fall in love with Daniel, die, and be reborn over and over until their mysterious curse is broken. The seemingly endless cycle of their romance is followed avidly by heavenly and demonic forces, who seem to have something big riding on its outcome.

Something seems to be different during this lifetime, and Daniel is determined to keep Luce safe from hostile forces while he teams up with other angels and demons in an eighteen-day long truce. He installs Luce at the prestigious Shoreline school in Northern California, where she meets a number of part-angel students who have yet to choose between good and evil. Luce is frustrated by Daniel's unwillingness to be honest with her and is determined to discover the truth on her own.
