Tor Books

Tor Books is the primary imprint of Tom Doherty Associates LLC publishing company, based in New York City, US. It is noted for its science fiction and fantasy titles, and publishes the online science fiction magazine Tor.com.

History

Tor was founded by Tom Doherty in 1980 and sold to St. Martin's Press in 1987. Along with St. Martin's Press, Henry Holt and Farrar, Straus and Giroux, it became part of the Holtzbrinck group, now part of the Macmillan in the US.

Imprints

Tor is the primary imprint of Tom Doherty Associates. There is also the Forge imprint that publishes an array of fictional titles, including historical novels and thrillers. Tor Books also publishes two imprints for young readers: Starscape (for readers 10 years of age and up) and Tor Teen (for readers 13 years of age and up). Tor Books also has the Tor.com imprint that focuses on short works such as novellas, shorter novels and serializations,

A United Kingdom sister imprint, Tor UK, also exists and specializes in science fiction, fantasy, and horror, while also publishing young adult crossover fiction based on computer games franchises. Tor UK maintains an open submission policy.

.tor

.tor is a pseudo-top-level domain host suffix implemented by the OnioNS project, which aims to add DNS infrastructure to the Tor network enabling the selection of meaningful and globally-unique domain name for hidden services, which users can then reference from the Tor Browser.

The project aims to address the major usability issue that has been with Tor hidden services since their introduction in 2002.

Beta release of the server, client and domain name reservation tool (so called hidden service) software parts and their supporting common library were announced in the Tor developers mailing list in August 2015.

According to the description on the projects gitsite "OnioNS is a distributed, privacy-enhanced, metadata-free, and highly usable DNS for Tor hidden services"

The system is powered by the Tor network, relies on a distributed database, and provides anonymity to both operators and users.

Toró

Rafael Ferreira Francisco usually known by the nickname Toró (born April 13, 1986 in Rio de Janeiro), is a Brazilian defensive midfielder, currently playing for Anápolis.

Career

Fluminense

Revealed by Fluminense youth team, Toró was expected to be next idol of the team. His nickname "Toró" (Storm, in Portuguese) was created during his indor soccer times when he used to "storm the goalkeepers with goals after goals."

However, when he made his debut in the pro team, in 2004, he did not repeat the same performances from his youth years.

Flamengo

In 2006 the Flamengo decided to bet on the player's potential and was hired by Toró Dearest Brazil and future status of ace. Still, the youngster showed his no good football and was barred, only gaining a new opportunity in the role of playing second wheel in the final of the Copa do Brasil that year, and the opportunity was seized as well as Toró helped Flamengo win the title and climbed into the concept of the fans and the coach Ney Franco.

With Ney's departure and arrival of Joel Santana, Toró finally live its peak in Topsail. Dubbed by "Torózinho" coach, the player finally found himself as the wheel and started to gain more credibility, so that by year's end, the player was first summoned to the Brazil squad and played a match against Championship Selection Brasileiro 2007 in Engenhão: Brazil 0 x 3.

Book

A book is a set of written, printed, illustrated, or blank sheets, made of ink, paper, parchment, or other materials, fastened together to hinge at one side. A single sheet within a book is a leaf, and each side of a leaf is a page. A set of text-filled or illustrated pages produced in electronic format is known as an electronic book, or e-book.

Books may also refer to works of literature, or a main division of such a work. In library and information science, a book is called a monograph, to distinguish it from serial periodicals such as magazines, journals or newspapers. The body of all written works including books is literature. In novels and sometimes other types of books (for example, biographies), a book may be divided into several large sections, also called books (Book 1, Book 2, Book 3, and so on). An avid reader of books is a bibliophile or colloquially, bookworm.

A shop where books are bought and sold is a bookshop or bookstore. Books can also be borrowed from libraries. Google has estimated that as of 2010, approximately 130,000,000 unique titles had been published. In some wealthier nations, printed books are giving way to the usage of electronic or e-books, though sales of e-books declined in the first half of 2015.

Books (EP)

Books is an EP released by Belle & Sebastian in 2004 on Rough Trade Records. The EP features "Wrapped Up in Books" from Dear Catastrophe Waitress, two new songs — "Your Cover's Blown" and "Your Secrets" — and "Cover (Version)", a remix of "Your Cover's Blown" by the band's keyboardist Chris Geddes. The front cover features Alexandra Klobouk. The EP reached #20 in the UK singles chart.

The Japanese release of the EP included a Japanese version of "I'm a Cuckoo" and a version of the Young Marble Giants song "Final Day" (slower than the version released on the 2003 Rough Trade compilation Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before) as the fifth and sixth tracks.
